After having blowing each other’s minds for years with their hard-earned audio finds, Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston decided to organize their own club night in 2010 in order to give their sound an outlet. On July 26th both gentlemen came to Trouw together for the first time and gave us an amazing set filled with primitive house, post-punk, dub, krautrock, disco and new beat. We've isolated a couple of hours of this all night long set by the wonderful music connaisseurs for this twelfth edition of the Trouw Live Podcast Series!

Between what we feel and what we think there's a rift that mankind has been trying to bridge for centuries in order to make sense of the vast universe of things that affect us in vastly different ways on a daily basis. He is is orignally from South Wales and now resides in Berlin running with the Love On The Rocks crew... This mix is based on his love of Italo-house. It's a nice one... Enjoy.

"I recorded this one in the middle of another frosty and grey morning in Berlin so I wanted to try and conjure up some of the spirit of summer. I’d had the idea for a while to try and do a mix with a lot of very pitched down Italo-house stuff so that it almost starts to sound a bit like kwaito and has a nice laid back feel… So here it is! Sometimes we happen to take some of the fundamental aspects that guide our main mission for which this platform is a crucial resource for granted, even if we never underestimate their place in what makes it something singular amid the multitude of similar content that can be found online. Take eclecticism for example, a quintessential characteristic of every single contribution to the series and an overall quality that is pursued by each of the guests we have in the construction of their deeply personal musical narratives. Not a mean feat, if we take into account the sheer diversity of rhythmic patterns and harmonic structures involved that need to be concatenated cohesively or, at the very least, sequenced harmoniously to be able to engulf us in its motional thrust and emotional pull. The greatness of all the mixes featured in this collection lies in the fact that they rely mostly on both a delicate play of moods and an intricate balance of forces, managing to harness their energy and use it towards stimulating our bodies, exciting our senses, enticing our minds and warming our hearts in the process. This episode is no exception, quite the opposite, as Lago brings his singular selective sensibility and elegant use of skills to weave an enthralling thread of gliding grooves that intertwine with alluring melodies from all over the globe.

Our man Tiago was in town recently for some gigs and was nice enough to come out to Kane studios to record a podcast, hang, and have some liquid refreshments. Hailing from Lisbon where he is a weekly resident at Club Lux, Tiago has a laid back intensity that is reflected in the expansive and inquisitive nature of his sets. Raised on good music in his home, turned on to drumming by his older brother, he came to Dj'ing via live music. He has been at it for close to twenty years, and in the last decade added production work to his resume. Felix has been part of the UK's underground dance scene for the last 3 decades, learning his trade DJing at free parties and illegal raves and co-founding his first record label Ugly Music in the 90's.

He's produced records for well renowned record labels worldwide including DFA, Rush Hour, Eskimo, Golf Channel, Claremont 56, Futureboogie and his own labels Cynic and Ugly Music.

He has secured slots at well known clubs and festivals across the globe, and the last few years have seen him receive a lot more attention due to his high profile residencies for Block 9 (Glastonbury) and Croatia’s Love International as well as regular appearances at Houghton, Gottwood and Thailand’s Wonderfruit festival.
