Scratching my Brain

In the Deepest Recesses of my Mind

Hello. My name is Felix Marsh. Ted Smith, the subject of this interview project is my wife's Grandfather and a good friend of mine. He is 92 years old and possessed with a lifetimes worth of tales and stories which he and I decided should be captured on record. We had talked for literally dozens or hours over the years about his life and I was forever asking him questions about this and that so recording it all seemed like a logical thing to do.

Last year (2012) Ted and I began what has become a series of recordings. Where do you start when interviewing someone about their life when they are three times as old as you?! Well, at the beginning of course. Each session covers a decade give or take and at time of writing we are up to the 1980s. These final sessions will take place over the next few months and will be uploaded in due course along with the other ones we have already recorded.

If you find yourself listening to this and enjoy it then please do either tell someone you know that might like to copy this project or do it yourself. Old people are not just old they are wise and the stories they tell are better than anything you can read in a book or on the internet. The ability to record conversations is something that we take for granted nowadays but it is a real gift that science has given us. I have absolutely loved the experience of interviewing Ted and hopefully you will like listening to it.
