Always delivering that stunning and hot mix of Electro, EBM and acid. Along with The Hacker, Maelstrom and Umwelt among  others tops producers from France he's on the top of this game.

IM MIX 100: Djedjotronic

Ikigai’s journey with electronic music began earlier than most, at the tender age of three. When her father, himself a musician, gifted her a Casio synthesizer, she quickly began losing track of time while exploring these strange electronic sounds.

This early experience sparked a deep passion for music, which persisted throughout her years growing up in Kyiv. Being born and raised in Ukraine, the legendary KaZantip festival greatly influenced young Katya, whose biggest dream was to attend the event once she was old enough. Unfortunately, Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula, where KaZantip was located, thwarted her plan, as the festival gradually lost its authenticity until its definitive end some years later.

After the Revolution of Dignity in 2014, the Ukrainian underground music scene began developing rapidly, especially in Kyiv. Popular venues such as the newly founded Closer brought together a tight-knit community of local and international artists, providing Katya the perfect playground to discover new music and meet like-minded dancers. She quickly started buying records and DJing, eventually organizing her own underground parties in Kyiv through her collective, Escaped.

Katya’s style spans many genres of electronic music. After discovering her work through her amazing podcast for SW:IDR, filled with moody downtempo and IDM vibes, I was curious to find out what the dancier side of her collection might sound like. This mix is the result, and it doesn’t disappoint.

Eva has a knack for finding beauty in unexpected places: a glint of light on a wall, an old record abandoned on a Berlin sidewalk, or a track hidden deep in a dusty Discogs listing. Her musical world is fueled by relentless curiosity, shaped over years spent chasing sounds and inspiration wherever they appear. This led her to launch Selections with Eva in 2015, starting as a Facebook page to share discoveries and connect with fellow music obsessives. The platform quickly stood out from the sea of digger channels emerging at the time, thanks to her impeccable and deeply personal curation spanning everything from 90s hardcore to the deepest house grooves.

A decade on, Eva still shares music regularly, though she’s traded Facebook for Instagram and SoundCloud. Both pages remain a goldmine of new tracks and mixes often spotlighting emerging artists, which is a commitment that runs through all of Eva’s work. Special mention goes to her monthly Chicks on Decks SoundCloud playlist, showcasing online mixes by female DJs who are, in her own words, “continuously pushing boundaries and redefining the electronic music landscape.”

You might expect someone with such dedication to be constantly behind the decks. In reality, Eva’s live appearances and podcasts are rare, which makes her contribution to our series all the special. In this mix she explores the deep, dubby corners of her collection, delivering a fresh take on the minimal and dub house sound that defined the late 00s. Andrew Weatherall's first official posthumous mix. The only b2b DJ Harvey ever agreed to. Six hours at Trouw. This one's special.

When mulling which direction to go in for RA's 1000th mix celebrations, many options came to mind. Some shadowy character 2-stepping around the fringe of our collective consciousness? An impossible-level IDM icon?

All tempting. But, ultimately, we are a DJ-forward publication and this is a DJ mix series. It felt truer to the history of the RA Podcast to release deep vault material from a time when the world of niche records felt different, tighter, more discrete.

The fourth-longest mix in the series' history is an unrepeatable marathon set recorded in 2012 at a superclub that no longer exists. 2012, incidentally, is farther away from 2025 than 2012 was from 2000... if we have to clock it, so do you.

It's the coming together of one British icon who passed away in 2020, and another whose time on the road has scaled back considerably as of late. DJ Harvey agreed to exactly one b2b set in his life: this one, with Andrew Weatherall.

The night took place at Trouw, an Amsterdam club already considered legendary before it shuttered its doors in the opening hours of 2015, as part of an RA series anchored around start-to-close combinations. Harvey was at the peak of an irresistible career second act, which dovetailed with a disco revival that dominated clubs for years. Weatherall, with infinite brownie points stockpiled from the '90s, remained everyone's favourite debonair psychonaut. 

What follows is 385 scintillating minutes of arpeggiated chug and slow-cresting climaxes: a moment when the resting heart rate of dance floors plunged lower than any comparable point in the 21st century. A masterclass, entirely self-contained in audio form.

If you've got time to spare, a fun side game is sussing out who plays what. A disco-dub cover of Echo & the Bunnymen? Smart money's on Weatherall. Exuberant EQ'ing of The Isley Brothers? Gotta be Harvey. As for the low 'n slow, lightly spangled house that was all the rage in the early 2010s (think Maxxi Soundsystem, Disco Bloodbath, Rub & Tug, C.O.M.B.I. and Full Pupp), it's anyone's guess. 127 BPM feels practically like an F1 car.

When we kicked off our RA.1000 campaign, we outlined a few goals: tick off a handful of long-awaited dream guests, honour architects who shaped the world around us and deliver recordings you truly can't hear anywhere else. Full send.

DJing and the mythmaking around it has undergone a quantum leap since 2012, let alone 2006, 1996 or 1989. For those of us who were kicking around in the former, there's a creeping melancholy that our prime is fast becoming a matter of historical record. The killing moon really did come too soon. 

Where will electronic music, DJ sets or any of this be in 2044? Hard to say. Best not to overthink that one. Instead, we want to say thanks to all contributors on the series so far. He is known for his distinct flair in building energy through intimate selections with a cinematic aesthetic, taking listeners and dancers on marathon trips towards epic emotional closings. A firm believer in finding unique resonances between styles and periods, he attempts to shine a light on quality music for the body, the mind and the soul.

After being involved in a string of underground party series in Montréal and local radio n10.as, working for the eclectic Parisian record shop Balades Sonores, he is now a resident for Radio Sofa and based in Brussels where he plays for local nights and radios such as Bruzz, LYL, Kiosk, and Microwave.
