Chilled ambiance tunes develop into more up-beat numbers in a wonderfully balanced and varied set that defies classification by genre. This music is deep (as in the opposite of superficial) and despite being packed full of amazing, rare gems, they are masterfully combined into a beautiful union that can transform three and a half hours of your life.

On Tuesday 11th August 2015, I was lucky enough to be invited to Brilliant Corners to play records on their state-of-the-art, no-expense-spared soundsystem in Dalston, East London.
I took this as an opportunity to play the records (from my ever expanding collection) that I wouldn't get the chance to play in the dance. The aim was not to make anyone dance. Not one record was 'mixed'. Each song was allowed to play from beginning to end, in order to hear the music as it was meant to be heard, on the 4 channel klipsch-horn system, which is brilliant in the truest sense of the word.
The mix starts off ambient, beatless, avant-garde and noisy until rhythm and melody gently creep in before we go on a journey across the musical spectrum, taking in new age meditations, spiritual manifestations, free jazz, synthesised chaos, electronic experiments and silky smooth soulful incantations.

This is a mix to be enjoyed in one sitting; perhaps during a spring clean, potentially while preparing a feast, maybe even the soundtrack very contemplative after party, or introspective acid trip.

Needless to say, this was all vinyl,  recorded on two lovingly modified turntables, through a bozak mixer. There's a slight ground buzz on one turntable, but it's very gentle and somewhat calming.

Our FatCat Record Store in Covent Garden, London, gave us the perfect opportunity to meet music lovers from across the globe, it was a melting pot of musical tastes and we were lucky enough to meet, hang out, talk music and sell records to friends from many of the different scenes happening across Europe and beyond. The shop is where I first met Nancy, deep in the basement, at some point in the early 90's. 
But Nancy's story, her influence, begins much earlier than that meeting in the early 90's. Nancy Noise is one of the originals. She first visited Ibiza in 1986 which created a love affair that continues to this day. During the summers of '86 and '87 her home was the club Amnesia where she spent long nights dancing in front of the speakers to the sounds of Leo Mas and Alfredo, often venturing up to ask what the record was they had just played. If you ask Nancy what made Amnesia special she'll tell you, "it was the music, the vibe, dancing under the stars all night long and that eclectic mix played the right way that worked so perfectly" Amen. 
During the summer of 1987 Nancy met Ian St.Paul and Paul Oakenfold who had also fallen in love with Amnesia. On arrival back to London the three of them wanted to continue the party so held a few nights which resulted in them finding a regular venue. Oakenfold and friends knew that Nancy a music lover & had been buying the records she had been dancing to over the last few summers so asked he asked her to DJ. The club was the Future and it is now part of London clubbing history.
Within weeks Future was one of the busiest parties in London and a fundamental part of the early Acid House scene in. From here Spectrum, Loud Noise and Land Of Oz followed with Nancy DJing alongside luminaries such as Alex Patterson, The Orb. 
Nancy soon became one of the early global DJs, travelling for i-D magazine for their early world tours and DJing in North & South America, Europe and Asia. Alongside this she was working hand in hand with Paul Oakenfold at the newly formed Perfecto Records, one of the earliest UK-based record labels to come out of the Acid House scene, which again led to playing at Perfecto parties in New York and Pacha in Ibiza.
In the early 90s, as the club scene grew and grew in the UK Nancy became a regular DJ on the "superclub" scene playing as resident at The Ministry of Sound, then regularly at Renaissance, Golden, Cream, Gatecrasher, Clockwork Orange and The Gallery at Turnmills. From here a trip back to Ibiza beckoned which led to Nancy setting up her own venue Bar Zuka in the Old Town. Whilst in Ibiza she DJ'd at Amnesia, Space, Privilege (previously Ku) and Es Paradis. 
Nancy Noise is one of those modest people that feels no need to shout (though she does like the odd "Arreeeeebba") - she loves music, playing at parties for people that care and keeping her very original style of DJing alive and well. With the Balearic scene currently having a resurgence it's great to see Nancy back where she belongs, playing what she wants, when she wants to a room full of dancers. Bring the (Nancy) Noise.
Nancy has been playing parties such as Balearicos, Musica Noche, The Great Outdoors, Winyl, Test Pressing, The Date, Alfresco, Up on the roof parties, Boys own, Full Circle, Love Vinyl, We are the sunset, Passport to Paradise, Vinyl Addicts, Outlaws Yacht Club, We are Balearic. Also playing at festivals for Lowlife, Alfresco & Farr Festival and at the listening experience Spiritland.
It is with great pleasure that we bring you a beautiful mix from Nancy, a mix that showcases her unique and individual style and exudes love and warmth. Thank you Nancy.

Scruscru is an artist who is absolutely shining at the moment. his ascent over the last couple of years has been seriously impressive and equally not surprising given the consistently brilliant quality of his productions. He has an uncanny knack for unleashing tracks which are both incredibly cool and also packed with club knowhow. He's one of a number of artists who have appeared from the buoyant Russian scene over the last couple of years who are helping reshape the very textures of house music.
