Olfa Arfaoui is an award winning Tunisian film producer, DJ a.k.a FemaleConnections, and feminist creative entrepreneur.


At a young age, she was impressed with Hip Hop and Rap music but was aware that women were under-represented in these musical genres. She grew up in an environment where women weren’t welcome in such spaces or careers.

Later, she decided to pursue her passion for music.  She began her DJ career with mentors and famous DJs such as Ipek from Berlin, Tia Turntables from Copenhagen and DJ Rupture from New York. Her Tunisian grassroots influences lead to weaving sounds along with North African influences like Gnawa, Salhi, and Stambali - with an electro-pop style production. She is now starting a new project where she is exploring the intersection of electronic music and North African analog music using the Gumbri instrument. Recently, she was nominated as a changemaker of the Challenging Norms, Powering Economies Initiative of Ashoka, Open Society Foundation and UN Women for her efforts on empowering women and girls. Her passion for empowering girls and women, music and arts lead her to found la Fabrique a coworking art studio based in Tunis with a flagship programme for Female DJ and electronic music producers.  She was featured in an all-female DJ line up for the women international day at one of the alternative clubs of Tunis.
