En Madrid, una ciudad con una extensa cultura del techno pero donde las v i s i o n e s f e m e n i n a s d e l g é n e r o escasean, Parallax es un antídoto. 
M i e m b r o a c t i v o d e l c o l e c t i v o multidisciplinar Geométrika FM, donde se predica y procura la variedad de los r i t m o s e l e c t r ó n i c o s y e l p o d e r movilizador de la música de baile, Tamara ha sabido añadir a sus sets la frescura de las nuevas vertebraciones del techno. 

Como muchos de los que han crecido en la capital, Tamara se enamoró de la música escuchando rap, electroclash, IDM o electro, así como del poder de cambio social que la música de baile puede generar en el entorno. De ahí su afiliación con Geométrika FM - cuyo lema es “Techno To Change The World”- o su colaboración con otros colectivos municipales vinculados a la cultura de club como “El Despertar de una Ciudad”, evento vecinal que aúna música, arquitectura y otras disciplinas artísticas. 

Después de haber recorrido diversas cabinas madrileñas, en 2018 Parallax pisa una de las mecas del techno español, el festival Mugako (Vitoria- Gasteiz) acaparando la atención del público y comenzando así un recorrido que le llevan a visitar diferentes clubs y eventos como Tupper_ o Draft (Barcelona), Ágora Club (Valencia), Prisma (Sevilla), Jimmy Jazz (Vitoria) o Dantz Festival (San Sebastián), Bau (Gijón) o Mira Festival (Barcelona.

En 2018 se estrena en Geométrika FM editando junto a TR “Breakxit”, un EP con dos temas originales y cuatro remezclas, donde también en el mismo sello, se han publicado diversos remixes a otros artista

The open-minded attitude of understanding the World of Jazz, Soul, Funk, Disco and even Hip Hop makes much easier to figure out what may have caused the emergency of the Detroit Techno and Electro scene. This is the case of Lamont Norwood, also known as DJ Di'jital, who grew up with all these groove influences.

Of course, it was the sounds of Kraftwerk in a first moment, and after that the Street Dance culture that guided him – mainly with the Electro-Funk classics of the beginning of the eighties. Fascinated, Norwood was caught by a whole movement that started with the Funk culture, but which roots lies miles ahead. Largely influenced by the street sounds of Afrika Bambaata, Newcleus and Cybotron that swirled into his mind during the eighties, Lamont decided to stretch to the boundaries and started a deep journey of musical researches.

His DJ story begun even before the acquaintance of the turntables at the beginning of the nineties: he started with double tape decks at a parent’s house with very limited options. But the natural mixing skills and the density of his musical background took him far beyond his dreams: about more than ten years ago, he became a professional DJ, even if his professional highlight was yet to come.

Before the so called professional ascension, he played tons of House parties as a Cabaret DJ. To be really integrated on the scene, it was just a question of time. He quickly shifted behind the decks and became part of the most important professionals behind the electro scene from the nineties. His melting pot of electro funk, techno, booty and ghetto tech elements with scratching skills created a very unique ambiance which DJ Di'jital drove the crowds wherever he wanted to.

In 1996, Lamont Norwood integrated the brilliant Aux 88 as their DJ and had the pleasure to experience live shows with them for years. At the same year of 1996, he released his first track, “Radar2Bass” which, according to his statements, was meant to be a “Sinister Techno Bass”. It appeared on the “Xperience De Bass II” EP by Direct Beat, the same label through where he released his first single: “Prototype”, a kind of definition for his sound, a free sound that was made to be included on the open-minded DJ’s repertories, which were really free to do whatever they wanted. He also released several other productions, remixes and a couple of CDs through Direct Beat records, one of the most important labels of the electro scene.

Mechatronicast #19: DJ Di'jital

Syl Niet aka niet! aka Hypersunday is an electronic music producer and a journalist from Tanger living in Madrid. She started as a musician in the 80s, then stopped for three decades and came back as Hypersunday, initially a duo with the musician Héctor González. After two albums (Commedia-Intro, 2014 and Inferno, 2015, both in the label Glocal Sound) Héctor left Hypersunday. niet! created then her own label, Hypersunday Records. In 2016, Purgatory was released. The album was among the three finalists at the Vicious Music Awards 2016 (Best Album). In Purgatory, each track was the result of the collaboration of niet! with a different producer: Resonance, Omega dB, David Reina, Delusions... Paradise (13 April, 2018) has been the latest album of the project. From electronic pop to experimental techno, this album means a map of the Hypersunday’s sound, a world where you can find brutal basses and delicate melodies, sung and recited voices and tons of emotions.
Meanwhile, niet! has also been also involved with a lot of different artists and projects: Moon Dust, Nivanoise, GuiVille, Sakegashira, Delusions, Hexamoten, Rodrigo García, Rusty Egan, UKLD (Unknown Land)…
