Carmen Johnson is an active model, singer, artist, actress and emerging DJ born in Detroit, Michigan. Carmen is socially known as and performs under the name sillygirlcarmen. Her modeling career began when she was just 13 years old. At 14 years old, she was signed to major agencies in NY, Miami and LA. She has traveled the world and worked with many leading fashion and lifestyle brands including Macys, Garnier, Target, Abercrombie & Fitch and Finish Line. While modeling Carmen ventured into the DJ craft, training under some of the best turntablist LA and Detroit have to offer including Delano Smith and Terrence Parker. She has played in many exclusive settings across America, but made her featured debut as sillygirlcarmen August 2019 headlining the Wonderful Stage at Charivari Detroit Music festival. 
Recently her DJ career has taken priority, and she is focusing on production and releasing original music to debut in future performances. To accompany her expansion into the music world, Carmen is the host of her own radio platform called Wonderful Radio. In partnership with Charivari Detroit Radio, Wonderful Radio showcases a new female DJ / artist every Wednesday, which allows space for women in the industry to inspire and share their stories.
Carmen is 100% passionate about music, arts, environmental restoration, healing & wellness, and all things involving creative expansion and change towards better.

    Encouraged by DJ-producer Howie B to start spinning, he cut his teeth in London in 1995 mixing freestyle sets of Jazz, Drum n Bass and Deep House. Guest sets followed at top London nights such as James Lavelle's Dusted, Fabio's Swerve and Howie B's own west-side Sunday parties.

    In 1998 he established the seminal London Deep House Sunday club and compilation series, Lazy Dog, with Jay Hannan. Moving away from EBTG's mainstream eclecticism and effortlessly into club-oriented dance music production, he also turned out an accompanying string of acclaimed dance floor remixes including 5-star re-rubs for Sade, Sunshine Anderson, Zero 7, Maxwell, Meshell Ndegeocello and Sandy Rivera. Lazy Dog folded at the top after five untouchable years of sell-out shows around the world and compilation sales of 100,000.

    In April 03, Ben launched his new independent record label & club night, Buzzin' Fly - a new benchmark on the club scene with a cluster of revered underground hits including his own ‘Lone Cat’, 'A Stronger Man' (feat Sananda Maitreya aka Terence Trent D'Arby) and ‘Pop A Cap In Yo’ Ass’ (feat Estelle) and his brace of best-selling Buzzin’ Fly mix CDs (Buzzin’ Fly Vol 1 & 2). Committed to new talent the label has already unearthed Justin Martin (Breakthrough DJ nominee at House Music Awards 2004 and 2005). The label won Best Breakthrough Label at the House Music Awards 2004.

    From 2002-2005, as part-owner-founder of new West London nightclubs Neighbourhood and Cherry Jam, he orchestrated the music policy and image of both venues, helping establish their reputation at the forefront of the capital’s club scene. Under his creative direction Cherry Jam's intimate surroundings hosted packed underground club nights as well as The Libertines' first official debut show. At Neighbourhood, Watt brought in big guns like Groove Armada, the Rough Trade Records 25th Anniversary, the inaugural prestigious House Music Awards and a string of international DJs to guest at his own in-house nights until his resignation in June 2005.

    Now a central figure on London's club scene he DJs regularly in the capital as well as all over Europe, Australia and North America with regular sell-out shows in NYC, San Francisco and LA. 2005 saw him tour extensively on the festival circuit (Good Vibrations, Homelands, Coachella, Ibiza, Lovebox Weekender, Electric Picnic) and he currently fronts Buzzin’ Fly’s two new London residencies – monthly underground Sundays at Plastic People, and quarterly events at The End.

    In Sep 2005, Watt received two nominations in the House Music Awards 2005 –Most Innovative Producer, Outstanding A&R – as well as one for Label Of The Year for Buzzin’ Fly.

    Summer 2006 sees the release of this third mix CD for Buzzin’ Fly. While still predominantly a dancefloor journey, it again features tantalising glimpses of his long-running ‘Outspoken’ project, a series of evocative spoken word narratives that he has been writing since 2002 with narrators as diverse as UK R’n’B MC Estelle, art-rock Australian Robert Forster, New York Japanese dancer Miho (wife of film director Hal Hartley) and Grenadan-Brixton poet Malika Booker.

    We’re really proud to have Ben in Leeds for this album launch party, his other tour gigs are in Newcastle, Bristol, Brighton & of course London.
