The Femdex Podcast #35 | Minou Oram, Misonica & Polyxene

While all of us are living the quarantine life, Good Room has asked friends and residents to share mixes for our Solitude Series so you can dance on your own. The 15th mix comes from R Gamble. Originally hailing from Memphis, TN and now operating out of Brooklyn, DJ and producer R Gamble has been a staple of NYC underground music for close to a decade. With an ear bent towards leftfield analog electronics for the dancefloor, he founded label and party crew Lost Soul Enterprises, who now hold ongoing residencies at Good Room and The Lot Radio. He has released his own industrial synth-driven cuts on labels such as Primitive Languages, Mannequin, and Public System Recordings. Here's what he had to say about the mix;

"I'm not usually a huge junk food person. But since quarantine began I've started eating a lot of Cheetos™. They're amazing, and I think their newfound presence in my life definitely influenced the selections in this mix. Faced with the daily barrage of depressing and infuriating news, we need now more than ever to take refuge in the comforts of a few guilty pleasures. So with that in mind, I put together a cheesy, breezy montage of synth pop, dubbed-out punk disco, and assorted cosmic sleaze. Dig in and enjoy!"

After a little lockdown-break we are finally returning with our monthly Headcast series. 

Issue 27 comes from Hamburg hero KLUENTAH. Head of ZEMENT records and responsible for releases on labels like Public System Recordings, Mechatronica, FUTURE ME RECORDS and many more. In his productions as well as his mixtapes, you can always recognise his love for heavily distorted drums, a kind of one-take-roughness and last but not least, a passion for the bounciness of Hip-Hop, which we highly admire. Attributes which also come to life in his duo FALLBEIL which he is forming together with Wosto. If you ever had the possibility to see those guys playing one of their hardware-only improvised livesets across Europe, you know what we are talking about. 

The mix he delivers for us reflects an open-minded mixtape-approach: a crossover between some synthetic disco vibes, bouncing breakbeats, some electro-bretterz and overdriven 808 romance. Enjoy!

Regarded among the very best to do it in recent years, Zorz cut his teeth playing records since the early 2000's, and honed his style through the years, developing something of a cult following in the process. As, his mix is essentially a selection of special calibre, pulling from decades of fervent digging to plot out personal, rhizomatic links between the lesser heard nooks of his enviable collection.
