Every musician has his technics when we have a lack of inspiration. Personally, I always thought that music comes from silence, so when I can't make any music, I find a quiet place, sit down, and wait for the music to come to me. I did that once, in my garden, and then those tiny bells appeared. When I heard it perfectly, I ran to my studio to write it down. It reminded me of a snowflake's purity by his sonority, and it's way to dance with the wind by his groove. "Flocon de Neige" was born… I hope you will like it !"

This is about the hurt you feel when you can’t connect with the person you love. 
Originally Caitlin sang this song to a different backing track. I loved the words and the way she sang it, but didn’t feel the music and vocals were the perfect match, so I started making new music around the vocals and the whole feel and melody changed completely. I had two ideas for this song. The first was a soulful vibe I came up with by playing the Rhodes and the other was quite different, with the old-school low-fi arp running. So rather than pick one I decided to put them together and use the arp idea as a surprise element in the song. I spent a lot of time over-producing the song to make it sound under-produced. I wanted it to sound gritty and old-school which can be hard with the ‘clean’ equipment producers have today. The lyrics and feel of this song made it the perfect opener for a Noir album.

One of the most accomplished and revered producers in electronic music today makes his solo debut on Kompakt: French mastermind AGORIA joins our release fold after a foretaste with his stellar 2013 remix of Michael Mayer's "Good Times" (KOMPAKT 272), presenting us with his new mesmerizing floor epic BAPTÊME. 

"I'm very happy that BAPTÊME will finally be released", says the producer, hinting at the track's long and winding path to completion: "it's a very special tune for me, representing a lot of changes in my personal life these last two years. It signals my 'second life', if you will". Meaning "baptism" in French, the cut's title is indeed a perfect fit for its particularly festive spirit, exuding both solemnity and sheer pleasure, hallmarks of AGORIA's unique brand of emotional and versatile techno. Bouncy, minimalist percussion is joined by an extensive, dub-styled sub-bass and floating shards of atmospheric synths, quickly escalating into a high definition mover fitted with gorgeous swabs of piano and a keen sense for emotional space.  

On the flipside, the original track gets a fascinating rework from DJ Tennis and The Rapture's Luke Jenner, whose LUCKY BLUE EYES VERSION adds more wiggle room to the proceedings, bolstering its loosened grip with enticing new vocals. In yet another step forward, AGORIA himself revisits the remix, sharpening its blurry edges and successfully putting the vocals to work in a prime time environment: "my friend Patrice Bardot - the chief editor of Tsugi Magazine - even said that this one sounds like The Doors for the 21st century", he adds - and indeed, it's next level dreaming for those who need a little bit more from their floor than just another knock on the head.

We welcome the Swiss newcomer Benotmane back on Stil vor Talent after
a year-long break, as he follows 2014's 'Sunqueen' with the impressive
'Cross Hands' EP. Kicking things off, 'Beyond' is a trance-leaning
peak-time track with a driving kick and an atmospheric synth-lead,
which also form the foundation of Karmon's reduced and epically
building remix. Due to the tension between melancholy and euphoria,
handled masterfully by Benotmane, 'Abydos' is equally mesmerizing. On
his remix, Niko Schwind then translates 'Abydos's hypnotic qualities
into a darker, surprisingly techno oriented framework. 'Lemha',
another original, proves to be a trip into a paranoid realm of
shadows, perfect for the late hours. Lastly the title-track 'Cross
Hands' manifests itself as a romantic closing track aided by a
bittersweet chimes. Impressive stuff!
