NEURALINK COCAINE

This project, along with a selection of other solo pieces, has been in the works for over a year now, and is my first non-collaborative release since Physical Acoustics. During this time I've done a lot of reflecting on my musical process and the kind of work I'd like to do in the future, and I feel this song incorporates elements from both sides of this transition! Guildford’s crown prince of glitch @thorjn found full flower with the 2025 album Through The Crystal Window. Thorjn’s most recent record exists entirely in its own realm. It sounds like what Thorjn was making before... the distinction is that there is no longer a “like”. There’s no longer the “like” of external comparison either. Just an actuality & accomplishment of singular sonic vision, a nu-planet made from its own hands only, with pacific vistas, ludic dreams, an emergent post-humanity that is an ur-humanity sung out of this amalgamation of imagination, breakage, soul and wires. It’s a music simultaneously busy and luxuriant. It might need its own language, not from hyperbole but because why attempt elocute what is soaringly said in sounds that bear their own beyonds. I still don’t know the words that Thorjn sings on its last track. I don’t need to know what a ray of light feels when to welcome Summer.

Thorjn’s Realist mix is constructed from the music that influenced Crystal Window in its development and the music to influence Thorjn in its afterglow, as work proceeded on the forthcoming NOVOPANGEA. It flutters through all manner of new age, ambient, IDM and hyperglitch, forming a kind of companion to Crystal Window, exhibiting the same extraordinariness of world-building, invitations into reveries lain on terrains ordinarily inaccessible. Summatively, the mix is the imaging of a world you can only see through sound. It’s a testament to Thorjn’s talent that this world agglomerates pasts and presents, summons vistas via sense alone, renders everything picturesque and palpable - a biome and a paean conjured in the proof of the possibility of art.
