Justin Carmical (also known as JewWario) has his main claim to fame on TGWTG with his show "You Can Play This!"  On his show, he goes over various Japanese video games that are possible to play, without needing a deep knowledge of Japanese to understand.  His theme song of choice has been the 1989 hit by Kome Kome Club, "Funk Fujiyama."

Given how so many games that he featured were for the Japanese NES (known as the Famicom), I decided it was only appropriate to make a 'Famicom' version of the theme...and what else to call it but "Funk Famiyama!"

Yes, I'm a sucker for lame puns.

It's been half a year since the Internet first heard this song through the web debut of our movie, "Farewell, FamiKamen Rider" (さらば、ファミ仮面ライダー).  Today was the first time I'd accidentally listened to Ready To Brave in a couple of months, and it brought me to tears all over again.  I realized I hadn't really put it in a place where people can readily hear it for themselves.  I'd intended for it to actually go up on YouTube, but since I joined Screenwave Media, all of my videos automatically generate advertising revenue, and we'd always said we never wanted to make any money off of Farewell, FamiKamen Rider.  I might still put it there eventually, but I'll have to reach out and contact someone to disable ads once I finally choose to do so.  

A little information about this song:
Although I am the vocalist, I am not the composer, nor did I write the lyrics as I did with Be Za Game.  I have a fairly good idea who the original composer is (and possibly the same individual who wrote the lyrics) however I had been informed that this person was starting to get out of music and was doing this as a favor to Justin and had told him that they did not want to be credited for this work.  Should that stance ever change, however, I'd be more than happy to update this post with that information.

Obviously, from that statement above, this was originally composed to go along with Justin's original multi-episode web project that he'd intended to complete.  In fact, in Justin's original FamiKamen Rider series trailer, you can see the tagline of "Ready To Brave", which at the time really meant nothing to anybody.  But this was a large part of it.    I was never supposed to be the original vocalist, either.  I was not made aware of who the original vocalist was supposed to be, but that getting that individual might be difficult.  Since we ran low on time, and since I at least understand Japanese pronunciation on lyrical pacing, I just went ahead and did it myself.  Though, I'm not exactly pleased with myself, nor with my editing skills on the track.  Truth be told, I'd originally reached out to a local recording studio to help me record and mix the track better, but we also ran out of funds, and just had to make due with what I knew I could do.  

The original instrumental track I had to work with likely wasn't even the completed version.  The track was labeled WIP (work in progress), and it had the melody of the vocalist plunked out on a digital keyboard along with it.  You can actually hear that version play during the final battle of the movie.  I did my best to reduce the sound of that fake vocal track without losing quality to the rest of it.  I tried, anyway.  I'm honestly not an audio mixer.

One day, if the whole thing could be re-recorded, I think that would be amazing.  This song was supposed to be in Justin's original project in some form.  But ending up in our movie, and being used as the ending credits theme, just made the whole thing sound strangely bitter-sweet.  As time has gone on, it has become easier.  But I still miss my friend.  And I still wish I could have seen what this song was originally meant to be.  But I'm glad that the world did, in fact, eventually get to hear it at all.
