Cassette Walkman recordings of passers by, vocal sketches, and ambient settings made during walks of the historic cobbled streets of Canterbury and nearby locations. These recordings were then treated and layered, used as vocal lines and sounds and finally merged with electronic rhythms, sequences and other found samples.

Originally released in 2004, it was re-mastered and re-ordered and given a new cover, for inclusion in the 6 CD Box/Bag set ‘Redoubt' in 2007.

Lie in the Sun

The Daniel Grade were an indie/pop/rock band from the late 80's/early 90's. The 7 track CD released on Fete in 2007 contains the 3 songs from the 12" Pest EP, originally released in 1991, and 4 previously unreleased songs from 1992 originally on the Severance cassette. The Daniel Grade at the start were essentially Drey Grade with a name change but they evolved over the years to become more song based - at the risk of sounding a little vague...

The piece was recorded at the visitor viewpoint overlooking Kilt Rock on the Isle of Skye in Scotland in April 2009. The safety railings at the edge of the cliff were made up of circular sections of hollowed out metal which made a kind of wailing whistling sound modulated by the strength of the wind.
Placed binaural headphones inside the metal ralings and also wore them, editing and mixing the two together. The clanking noises at the beginning and end are the sounds of the headphones hitting the railings while trying to position them.
