Elin Vallin wrote her first song when she was 13 years old drawing inspiration from the emo scene that took Sweden by storm. In some ways it’s still present in the music that she writes today. In late 2020 she debuted her solo project with the single ‘Nanana’, a quite raw track with a focus on emotional lyrics and cinematic soundscapes. In the end of March she follows it up with ‘Supersize’ and the single also has a music video directed by Ebba G. Ågren.

Earlier this year Stainwasher debuted with her EP ‘What Did I See’ and took listeners on a sonic journey through her deepest fears and emotions. In late August she returns with a new stunning track.

With her debut EP she quickly rose to be one of the most promising experimental acts in Sweden with support from critics around the world. The lead single ‘Joy For Me’ was crowned as one of the best songs this year by Belgian tastemakers HighClouds and the accompanying video was praised for its mystical yet calming nature. “I never question if presenting my music to the world was a good idea anymore, the feedback makes it all worth it.” She says about the response.

‘Drying’ is a natural step forward in terms of sound for Stainwasher. The synths soars through the track and cut straight to the point while the vocal melodies are delicately playful. This new material is also a heartfelt effort to make sense of both the good and bad in the world for Stainwasher herself. “I think people like to place things in categories in order to be able to cope with the abundance of information they receive every day, and I am no exception. The search for some kind of context might be as fundamental as eating or sleeping, that’s why many people never get satisfied with anything, but at least they're alive.” She explains further.

After years of writing catchy pop-songs for indie-band Dim Vanilla and spooky electro-duo Rottenheim, Erik Holger Målsäter decided to turn his new found love for experimental sounds into a solo project. On March 20 Erik Holger debuts with Born Again, a grandiose, punchy electro-rock song with an 80’s vibe that has both a cheesy saxophone solo and distorted vocals, everything mixed to perfection.

Erik Holger - Born Again

Johan Hansson Liljeberg’s solo project Smiling started late 2018 as a recording project with the cliché purpose of keeping Johan distracted after a breakup. A cassette recorder, a rehearsal space in Malmö and a bunch of emotions became the foundation for the project and Smiling started to take shape. Nowadays Johan takes help from Arvid Ingvarsson, who is also part of Smiling’s live setup, to record as often as possible. “The goal is basically to have the project as some kind of diary where I can record stuff based on what I experience or feel as honest as I can”. Johan explains.

Smiling - Clever

Elin Vallin wrote her first song when she was 13 years old drawing inspiration from the emo scene that took Sweden by storm. In some ways it’s still present in the music that she writes today. During 2018 she started a collaboration, Julian, with Anton Avernäs writing heartbreak songs in Swedish. But she always had tracks laying around that were meant for herself. “The music I write on my own feels a lot more intimate and therefore it took time to come to a stage where I felt ready to share them” she says. 

On this solo endeavour the music is not only a way for Elin Vallin to reflect on her own experiences, but also a chance for listeners to reflect on their own. It’s honest, sincere and quite raw song writing at it’s core but evolved with the cinematic and pop-inspired production. The new track ‘Nanana’ begins with a cautious piano and ends with a grandiose bittersweet crescendo. “It was snowing” she repeats throughout the track highlighting that sometimes the small things are what sticks with you. “’Nanana’ was written a few years ago and it revolves around falling in love with someone in place that’s isolated from the rest of the world” she explains.

Wilma Nea has been playing and writing music for as long as she can remember and the piano has always been a big part of it. In fact, at one point she even considered becoming a professional pianist. But her urge to tell stories and write original material took over and Wilma Nea was born. 

It didn’t take long for the Swedish press to take notice of Wilmas music because there’s something about it that feels so natural, yet hauntingly original. During 2020 she released the stand out debut EP ‘Issues’ which got support from media such as NBHAP and P3. This fall she followed it up with a new single - ‘Stalemate’. On the track she continued to showcase her talent for understated but meaningful songwriting as The Line of Best Fit put it. 

In December she’s putting out her next single ‘Part Of A Club’ where she continues to build on her previous work. “The track is about wanting to feel included, and changing yourself and your opinions to fit in.” Wilma says. The track is also accompanied by a music video that was directed by Ebba G. Ågren.
