2021: A RAY OF HOPE
The Collaboration.                                                                                                                                                 2021’s “A Ray of Hope” is the follow up single to Farid & Izzy’s 2020: “Light at the end of the tunnel” and essentially picks up where 2020 ended. The end of 2020 has seen some changes in the political sense in some global powers but on the Covid 19 issues still maintains a sense of unease and “DeJa’Vu” with many countries still struggling with the third strain.
2021: A Ray of Hope – paints the picture of an individual who has been thru the hardships and troubles in life. However, while facing the abyss of despair in almost every aspect of life, a sense of redemption and hope irrevocably lies dormant in all our hearts. It is this very essence of love, hope and enlightenment that brings us out of the deepest darkest realms of our fears and imbues us with a sense of purpose.
The musicians.
 
Fauzi “Izzy Rocks”			                                                                                                        Fauzi, who is the bassist, vocalist and driving force of punk band “Izzy rocks”, composed the music and handled the programming of the piano and drums. He was also the recording and production engineer working out of his very mobile and portable “Pisangman studios”
 
Farid Long			                                                                                                        Veteran singer and songwriter Farid Long wrote the lyrics and arranged the sonic aspects of the song. He also sang lead, harmony and background vocals. Farid is known for his hit singles “The 5Cs”, “Love You Aida” (from the Big O “New School Rock 2” album as swell as a selection of project recordings and session work with various musical industry partners. 
 
Stewart DeSouza  		                                                                                                                Bass virtuoso Stewart DeSouza is a veteran journeyman of Singapore’s pub / club scene since the early nineties and has been involved in many of Farid’s projects on the stage and in the studio and is also known for his work with “Strait Jackets’ and “Rain Dogs”.                                                                                       
 
George Mani		                                                                                                      George Mani is another of Farid’s long-time friend and musical collaborators, He has performed in many bands including “Shades” and “Retro Groove”. Mani played electric guitar.
 
Claudine Fernandez                                                                                                           Claudine worked together with Farid in the Novena Church’s Christmas music extravaganza in 2019. She was also involved in Retro Groove’s livestream in 2020 contributing her skills as a church organist to the band’s cover of “Hold That Thought”. Claudine played keyboards on this track.
 
Zeeaura                                                                                                                              Zeeaura, a singer-songwriter based in Singapore. Her lead single (available on most streaming platforms), is entitled "Monkey Land", is an ode to Pulau Ubin. Zee has performed with Farid on the “Jack & Rai” and “Arts at Kampong Glam” musical livestreams.

In a generation that emphasizes rather than embrace the age gap, music is probably the last true art form that bridges the "two masses" without being the object of lingering suspicion. Music transcends time zones, continents and cultures, invariably universal in it's appeal. I have always loved music from the 50s to the 90s, whatever the genre. As a young child on vacation, sneaking into my uncle's room to secretly play his prized vinyl collection of rock, soul, pop and blues legends, it left an impressionable mark on me during these "tender years" of mine. My affection for the music of this period has led to my endeavors to gather like minded musicians to play and enjoy songs that have reached "immortal" status within us.

 Farid also wrote the radio friendly hit singles "THE 5Cs" (Later covered by Siva Choy on his "Why You so like that" comedy album , "LOVE YOU AIDA", and also produced the music for the soundtrack of the "Dam Stoopid Video". A poke at the typically materialistic Singapore girl with songs like "Sarong Party Girl" and "Better Hammer This Fella". "GREENTHUMB" was a tune commissioned by the national parks board for their "Skyrise Garden Show" and "CITIZEN OF THE WORLD" won critical praise & top prize at the "LOVE THE EARTH" Band competition.

 Farid's influences include Jose Feliciano, Chuck Berry, Dire Straits, U2, The Beatles, Steve Morse, classic rock acts and above all PAUL SIMON.
