When I started mixing my style was tech house, now I think that my music is deeper and more house.

Interview :

1-	What have you been working on last months?

I produced a lot of new tracks and remixes, both solo and together with my studio-partner C-Rock as Motorcitysoul. We did a compilation of our best remixes over the last years that will be out on C-Rock's Stir15 label end of april, called "Motorcitysouled". We did new remixes for Cocoon recordings and Peppermint Jam, plus a new ep for Finale Sessions. On the other hand there is some Matthias Vogt stuff in the pipeline as well: I did an ep for Paul Woolfords Intimacy label, looking forward to the release of this one very much. Then there will be a release for Leeds based Fullbarr with a remix by James Teej. Union Jack signed my track "Steps" coming with remixes by Arthur Oskan and Add2Basket. Plus i did remixes for Bakerstreet Recordings (Paul Hardy) and of course a remix for Fiakun, that will be out on vinyl quite soon!

2-	What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?

My first release was 1992... So yes, there was quite an evolution... You can say that founding Motorcitysoul was an important step for me, back in 2003. this helped a lot to learn about producing, releasing, business and stuff. I studied jazz piano which i finished in 2000. So since then i'd call myself a professional musician. Funny enough since then i do djing and producing electronic music even more! I think to release on Simple records was another important step. It made us dj much more international. Of course the residency at Cocoonclub Frankfurt is a milestone as well. And finally producing under my own name without using any moniker. This started with my "Frankfurt Sour EP" on Urbantorque. Releases on labels like Saw Recordings, Komplex De Deep, Polytone and Dieb Audio followed... It feels like being more established now. Fair enough, i hope, after almost 20 years of work...

3-	What can we expect about the mix?

Doing a mix is following your instinct. Not good if it's too top-heavy. It should be about good music primarly. So i'll collect some soulful fresh cuts and hope you'll like the result. That's it. Looking forward to play stuff like this at Picasso Club!

1-What have you been working on last months? 
These past few months I have been spinning in the summer parties of Baja California, sharing and enjoying quality sets with other local DJ's and friends.

2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first mix to the latest? 
From the early days, now more than seven years ago, I've travelled across various genres, house, techno, minimal, electro (not the crappy pop electro.) I do however always find myself coming back to house and techno, and with this latest set, I feel it all comes together, and has that living essence where you can hear a new concept of my prior mixes.

3- What can we expect about the mix? 
The mix has a dry techy feel, definitely with sounds from techno, slow tempo, down pitch, with a variety of tracks that range from 2011 until present day.

Interview;
1- What have you been working on last months?
Honestly, I haven't had much time to work on my own productions for the past 6 months. I've been really busy playing and organizing Sub-Motus events with my partners. However, I do have two tracks that im working on that should be ready within the next few weeks.

2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?
Well to my own personal judgement the evolution hasn't really been significant. I believe I have kept the same purpose behind the few tracks I have produced. The only noticeable difference I can make is that it sounds a bit more mature than my initial ones. I'm really digging sampling and doing edits at the moment.

3- What can we expect about the mix?  
This mix is pretty much a collection of my favorite tracks from this year and last and even older. I typically find myself going back in time and playing older tracks in my sets so I wanted to translate that into this podcast. Also this is just me having fun with music, hopefully it will viewed the same for everyone. :)

1- What have you been working on last months?
Hi, first of all…sorry for my bad english. haha.
i worked on many remix stuff and podcast stuff. i also released an EP called „wilderness“ on dantze records from berlin. 
but now i try to start to work more on new own stuff.

2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?
hmm i don’t know. i always loved almost every kind of music and i tried my best to make that kind of stuff i was feeling for. for some years i’m more into that melodic, trippy and slow stuff.

On the back of an exciting debut album in 2012 that saw him perform live at Sonar festival and later with his band at Vienna’s Volkstheatre, before disseminating music on Permanent Vacation, Suol and Connaisseur Recordings, enigmatic Basque Country producer El_Txef_A returns with his sophomore longplayer ‘We Walked Home Together’.

El_Txef_A (pronounced “Elchefa”) has crafted a work that just like its journey-conjuring title, charts a shifting palette of sounds and moods, exemplifying its creator Aitor Etxebarria’s breadth of skill.

Produced entirely in Aitor’s homeland of the mountainous Basque Country, the album showcases the talents of not just its creator who producers, sings and plays piano on the record, but also some of the Spanish region’s most outstanding musicians.

Local artist Biskonti is one contributor, whose vocals coat a brooding bed of rough-cut drums on the ice-cold slice of electronica ‘I’m Going to Paint You’, while Hannot lends his pipes to the moving ‘You Left Us In This Physical World’ that sweep over a delicately crafted brew of guitars and keys. Both Basque vocalists featured on El_Txef_A’s debut ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’. Sublime title track ‘We Walked Home Together’ turns into a family affair, with Aitor’s brother Hibai playing the grand piano.

A graduate at 2013’s Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid, El_Txef_A has an impressive array of sonic strings to his bow and the Detroit techno inspired ‘Claim of Planet Earth’ deliciously rubs shoulders with the album’s single, the alternative slice of pop ‘The Love We Lost’ featuring DFA’s Woolfy. 

Elsewhere, Aitor paints a dream-like soundscape with the sublime shoegaze-inspired trip ‘0730’ that seamlessly bleeds into ‘Every Day Is Blue Monday’, with its atmosphere-heavy swirl of subtle acid lines, floating synths and evocative vocals delivered by Suol records contributor Meggy. 

An artist whose music is inextricably connected with his homeland, the album concludes with the stirring ‘Mugarrirantz’ sung in the native tongue of Euskera by country folk band Napora Iria. It’s proof that El_Txef_A is equally adept at doffing his cap to tradition as moving a dancefloor with his inspired brand of electronica.

Fiakun's large chest continues filling with discs but not for it is losing the essence and purity that is showing us. For this new "maxi", Fiakun get full of pride on presenting two of the most underground "southern" of the Spanish State "T.W.I.C.E", that gives us a "Dubbing Of My Soul" full of strength, character and a voice that will make fervour whistles of crowds.
For this new 12", Fiakun boys are surrounded on one hand with one of the electronic music diva, Claudia P.Toile, who will take us to the cold Germany with a powerful and aggressive mix.
For the other remix, Fiakun presents its new signing, with whom it has the following release closed, Volta Cab. He is thought to be one of the 2011 artists, he brings us to a much more warm and acoustic remix.

Interview: 

1. What have you been working on last months?
Since I am a father, lot has changed in my life and most of all I want to spend more time with my daughter, as a weekend hang in the clubs. It's perfect to play sometimes in a club or in a bar, but I don't wanna play every weekend, the DJing is only a passion for me and my priority is my family!  
So In the last time I was finishing my study and was making some music with my friend Chris Lattner. In May a track called "jackers together" comes out on a Compilation of the label "Yippiee", this one is also in the mix...
 
2. What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?
In the first time I was making music with Nils Nuernberg (Gruber&Nuernberg) and it was a really good time, we travelled a lot and so on... He's running now a music studio and makes a nice sound with Florian (Kruse&Nuernberg). But for our friendship it was the best, that we've finished our music project - because, since this time we finished it, we're best friends and he's also the "godfather" of my daughter. So from the first release until now it has changed so much and I'm really fine with my life and it's perfect to make music as a passion and  not to earn money! That was different when I was making music in the first time. 
 
3. What can we expect about the mix?
I'm a real fan of nice, warm, groovin', oldschool deep house sound! The last time we had a revival of 80's and 90's sound -  but I'm overdosed of this sound. Everybody plays these sound at the moment.  So I said to me -  I'll make a nice deep house Mix for the Fiakun Podcast without the indie/electro sound... So I hope the people like the mix and i think this Mix is nice for a warm up and to listen to in the car or in the background... so have fun with this deep shit!

1- What have you been working on last months?
In the past months basically I've been working on some new tracks, and some edits. I recently moved to Australia few months ago so now basically , I´m trying to find my place . 
I started a parallel project with an Australian artist , Ezeeki. Something with acoustic concepts but always with electronic roots.

At the very start I had too many concerns about the style. With the years I learn how to do what I feel and not what I suppose to. The best way to make people enjoy your music is giving it character , showing who you are.

        1- What have you been working on last months?
Actually really busy with the label and preparing the next Big label compilation "Deep Love 2" that will be released on 1st October, so keep your ears out for that. Apart from this we did a few remixes for Yosa on Dirt Crew and Good Guy Mikesh & Filburt on Riotvan. On The compilation there will also be a new Dirt Crew Track called "Sweeter" ...

 2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?
As Dirt Crew rec started in 2004 we mainly progressed through a lot of different styles from House to Techno and even Disco, nowadays i'm happy to have established a really good musical way for the label with young and upcoming producers like Detroit Swindle, Elef, Last Mood, Charlie Banks and coming up lots more new acts like Ben La Desh, Purple Velvet, Gitchell Moore, Urulu and Morning Factory.. going to be great and exciting times the next moths!

 3- What can we expect about the mix?
Well basically i tried to include a lot of really fresh tunes that i just received this and last week and also play out right now ... so all tracks in the mix are new.. or new edits of older stuff .. in the 1 hour mix i go from really deep house jams to more disco and techy tunes.. this really reflects all styles i usually do in my sets..

I had some gigs around Basque Country, but our collective Kogollo Party Krew is momently stopped until now, we have started to prepare a Christmas party and we are studying the possibility of organizing monthly parties in a club here in Bergara.

Musically, I don’t think that i have changed a lot. In all this years i have been discovering new music constantly so that´s why I also play other stuff like electro, italo disco,hip hop,...

Obviously the dj skill improves with the time,so thats the evolution.

1- What have you been working on last months? 

For the last months i've been making a lot of music. Mostly some remixes, but some forthcoming original releases as well.
First one of them (Dance Like Nobody's Watching EP) just came out on Freerange. The rest will come out on various label throughout this year.

2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?

I guess i've somehow returned to the start in a way that the sound today is quite similar from what it was by the time i released my first ep back in 1999. The music for that ep were made during 1997-1998. 
Surely i've gained some experience in mixing and producing since then, but in the core the music is quite the same.

The mix is an improvisational trip through some of my favorite tracks from the past few months.

After the success of last year's long player, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, El_Txef_A and Fiakun join forces once again to release a set of remixes taken from the album. The remix package will be released digitally and on a special 10" limited edition vinyl, featuring two remixes from the brains behind Permanent Vacation as well as Danish producer Kasper Bjørke.

The digital release will feature two extra tracks including a deep disco remix of "Feeling Idiot," from Austin-based Andres Aguirre as well as the more melancholic re-interpretation of "A Place To Fall Apart" by Berliner Peter Armster. 

This pack will be released ahead of the second studio album from El_Txef_A, scheduled for release sometime mid 2013

1- What have you been working on last months? 
I’ve been working on my album for No.19 for the past 2 years now, but between touring and running a label it’s difficult to find time to be in the studio that’s why I haven’t been touring much lately because I at the final stage now and I couldn’t be more excited about how it’s developing.
 2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest?
I believe the evolution will be very noticeable when the album drops. It’s filled with many real instruments, different progressions from the standard 4/4 or “4 kicks on the floor” stuff that I was doing, lots of dope vocals (including mine and my girl’s), It’s really sounding like an album and not just 12 songs jammed into one release so I think it’s safe to say that I’ve evolved into a pretty good musician.
3- What can we expect about the mix? 
A pretty fucking dope mix! That’s what you can expect..
Nah, I’m just kidding! I tried to do what I’ve been doing since the last No.19 Social Experiment which is try to have a more serious approach, steer away from the bass-driven; “hands-up-in-the-air” safe tunes, and try to mix them in with some of my new stuff and some of the stuff we have coming out on my label. Interview;

1- What have you been working on last months? 

Production wise I've been quite busy lately. I did a remix for the italians Social KIds, released on Less Conv Records, an EP for Mesmerize Musique, did one original with my partner Alain Ho that should be out on Composite Records this summer and finished a couple of weeks ago a remix also for Dj Yellow and Flowers & The Sea Creatures that would be released next September on Compost Records. I'm really happy with the past 6 months yeah.


2- What can you tell us about your evolution from the first releases to the latest? 

Well, making music is a never ending learning process. I'm finding new things and different possibilities everyday.  Anyway, I'm reaching a point, or I like to think so, that I'm feeling more comfortable with my sound. All comes more naturally right now as I'm closest to my sound, that redefines me if you know what I mean. But still, music is a mutant thing as we are as human beings, so both will be changing through the years I believe.  

3- What can we expect about the mix?        

I put a lot of me in every podcast I do, or in every story as I like to call it. Usually my stories are kind of nostalgic, dark but still sexy and sophisticated. This time I was feeling more into classic and simple thoughts. So, this time imagine you traveling during a late night taxi drive in NY, with some stops here and there. You can also find, between some classics that I'm into right now, a remix from Javier Carballo for my track 'Numb', one of Angelo's Mele new track for the upcoming Composite Records EP of his and 2 more unreleased ones of mine as I told you above.

Fiakun was created by an entrepreneurial group of six young people, in which all have a vast experience in music. They decided to set up this project because they believed that by creating their own music label, they would be getting something that would be more valuable to them, and because, by doing so, they would be able to meet their economical, social and cultural needs and aspirations.
