Inspired by Frank Ocean and Daft Punk, "Electrocuted" by Scottish-Pakistani artist FiDA captures the exhilarating rush of love, with vivid lyrics like “Is it just a crush if I’m static to the touch?”. Blending high-energy hip-hop, electronic R&B, & experimental production, the track features a hard-hitting drum break, aggressive bass, and dynamic high-pitched vocals.

after panic comes peace. sampled from a great movie, spirited away, i wanted a calm beat with minimalistic drums. super pretty piano gave me the feels and it finished with a kid cudi (my hero) interview sample that ends with the word guidance (which should be the next track, but is currently private). sample: ano natsu - he

peace - fidagul

first song side B of the tape. this beat was inspired by sounds i would hear during the night essentially. it was based on how i'd feel back when i had insomnia a couple years ago. the original sample is progression ii by alexander goldscheider. i also sampled some crickets, wind and owls to create a more sinister vibe.

nightttime - fidagul

this is probably my favourite on the tape - it was the first thing i ever produced that gave me goosebumps and made me go ahead with making music. i found the original sample on one of my dad's old CDs, a dance compilation from the early 90's. sample: touch of soul - we got the love.

nature - fidagul

winterlude is a super short interlude inspired by how i feel during winter - it's usually really fun and exciting but goes by way too quick. the sample is a jhene aiko christmas song called "wrap me up" featuring the very talented james fauntleroy. i liked the organ style sound, and was like hmmm... this could be pretty. the song is actually about jhene asking for sex as her christmas present. very festive lol.

winterlude - fidagul

so i went on holiday around five years ago with my family. it was a road trip through europe, and we spent most of it in italy. we stayed in a place called tuscany, and went to a cafe for breakfast. that's where the original sample was playing. i remember using my dad's phone to shazam the song, which happened to be "tema di un poeta" by tito fantana, which translates to theme of a poet. i liked it a lot and continuously listened to it, until recently i wondered... what would this sound like with hip hop drums? - and that's how my first lofi hip hop beat was born.

italy - fidagul

the third song on the tape was made with one intention - to be something you could smoke to. the sample is "romance" by hiroshi suzuki, which is just a super chilled out jazz tune. one of my favourite producers has also sampled this, listen to "a little soul" by pete rock.

euphoria - fidagul

all my life i've always hoped i could produce something as good as kanye. so, this beat was inspired by mr. west himself. sampling and chopping "nothing can stop me" by marilyn mccoo and billy ray davis jr. to get that college dropout feel, i created graduation style drums to create the beat. I wanted the first instrumental to go quite hard anyway, so what would be better than saying "nothing's gonna stop me-e-e..."?

one is the intro to the beat tape, so doesn't count as a beat at all. it's me crate digging in groucho's, a record store in dundee, looking for vinyl that I want to sample. i purchase "i hope we get to love in time" by marilyn mccoo and billy ray davis jr., and you hear me shuffle through the first, third and fifth song on the record. finally, i end on 'nothing can stop me' which is the song i sample on the next track.
