Auf (Hoch-)Touren

Der Gig ist unter Dach und Fach, die Playtime fix und Flug & Hotel sind gebucht. Was für ein überragendes Gefühl, für die große Leidenschaft auf Reisen zu sein. Es ist jedes Mal wieder wie ein kleines Abenteuer. Man steigt ohne Erwartungen in den Flieger und kehrt um viele, wunderbar-einzigartige Erfahrungen reicher, müde und glücklich in die Heimat zurück. 
Bereits am Flughafen steigt die Spannung und Vorfreude auf ein extraordinäres Level an. Wie wird der Club? Auf was für Leute treffe ich wohl? Kann ich mit meinem Set überzeugen? Alle diese Frage schießen einem durch den Kopf, während der Flieger langsam aber sich vom Boden abhebt. Auf dem Laptop werden schnell die letzten Feinheiten und Korrekturen vorgenommen, anschließend kann die Aussicht aus dem Fenster genossen werden. Am Flughafen des Zielortes erwartet mich bereits einer der Veranstalter. Er ist mir direkt sympathisch und gemeinsam fahren wir zu einem Restaurant, um dort mit den anderen Acts und Organisatoren der Veranstaltung zu dinieren. Anschließend geht es erstmal ins Hotel. Ich nutze die letzten Stunden vor dem Auftritt, um mich zu erholen und zu entspannen. Kurz bevor die Veranstaltung beginnt, werde ich wieder abgeholt und wir fahren zum Club. Dort angekommen komme ich aus dem Staunen schier nicht mehr heraus. Alles ist sehr anschaulich hergerichtet und auch der Andrang an der Tür ist enorm. Ein vielversprechender Abend liegt vor mir. Es ist einfach fabelhaft wieder auf Tour zu sein. 

Unser heutiger Gast auf KataHaifisch trägt den Künstlernamen fid codo. Bei seinem Podcast handelt es sich um eine überragende Komposition aus treibenden Downtempo Werken, welche darüber hinaus vorzüglich ineinander gemixt sind. Die Songs schmiegen sich wie Zwillingskinder harmonisch aneinander. Jeder Titel passt wie die Faust aufs Auge zu den anderen und ein natürlicher Spannungsaufbau fesselt den Hörer wie magisch an das Set. Spontan ist und bleibt oft die beste Lösung. It was early October and the colors of the leaves were changing every day now. Last night the first autumn storm had razed over the witch’s forest and the next morning Hekske (the little witch) and Falke (the 10 year-old witch apprentice) went for their daily inspection round of the damp forest. Luckily, apart from a few broken branches and thousands of fallen leaves, there was no real damage.  As always, they ended their tour near the tiny (3 feet high) oak tree which is destined to live for 1000 years and become the future mother tree of the forest.  The 2 witches were greeted by Lalita, the young nymph who had come all the way from South-East Asia to protect the little oak tree 24/7.  After their welcome hug, the little witch noticed something unusual.  The hollow willow tree (which is believed to be over 200 years old) had split open.  After a closer look, it appeared an entrance to the cavity had been opened.  Spontaneously, the girls slipped out of their long white dresses and entered the cavity.  There was just enough room for the 3 women, but it was nice and cosy inside the tree. It felt like coming home.  But then something strange happened. The tree started to move and the entrance to the cavity closed itself, while the 3 girls got squeezed even closer to each other.  It was pitch dark and they could see absolutely nothing. Luckily none of the girls has claustrophobia so they were not worried the least bit.  They could still breathe, albeit not at the same time, meaning they had all had to breathe at the same rhythm and slightly out of sync.  After getting used to their tight situation, the girls felt the heartbeats of the 2 other girls with their chests.  And strangely, all 3 heartbeats gradually synchronized so that there was finally only one strong collective heartbeat.  They had never felt more connected.  And strangely, not only did they feel each other’s warm skin everywhere, the tree kept on moving and it was as if they were being touched by 1000 fingers.  The wood of the tree was hard and soft at the same time and for the 3 girls it was a very pleasant feeling of infinite connectedness.  After a while, they felt a deep connection with the whole tree, from the deepest hair roots to the tips of the leaves.  And after tuning in even more, they could even feel the energy from the dying leaves being drawn into the tree itself and travelling all the way down to the roots.  The 3 girls gradually got filled with a pleasant energy which started from their belly and gradually spread over their whole body.  It felt like pure love.  The mind of Hekske wandered to Ishola, her lover from the African rainforest.  And Falke’s mind drifted away to Esfandiar, her Persian soul mate she had met a few weeks earlier, and she smiled.  And Lalita – as always – was thinking about the tiny oak tree she had to protect for the next 1000 years.  Never before had the 3 women felt so connected with everything and everyone.  And gradually they lost all sense of space and time, and they had no idea whether this state of total bliss lasted for hours or for days.  They only wished it would never end…

Joshua Adam aka fid codo has been a passionate downtempo fan since Martha van Straaten played aelke's "beppo" at the Wilden Möhre in 2016. He started playing earlier this year, excited to share his interpretation of downtempo. 

He enjoys playing a driving indie/downtempo, but in the end everything is allowed, as there are no barriers when it comes to expressing yourself through music. 

In addition to playing music, he launched a downtempo party series in his hometown Düsseldorf "fete.de.la.legende" with Malte van de Water. 

I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I did!

Dearest lovely sweet sunshine munchers, here at last is our set from this year‘s fusion festival! re-recorded at home due to the technical difficulties on stage which sadly rendered the live recording unusable. Music has given me so much love and bonding moments throughout my life. This set is a small selection of some old and new gems that have carried me through youth and adulthood, and that have touched me deeply. 

Some tracks have entered this set with a little giggle as they as well are connected to people and moments. So this set truly is a bit of a journey through time and moods. What other place could be better to play this diverse set of tracks than at DUBSTATION.  

When I was asked to play at Fusion Festival my reaction was - "als ob" ("As if").  Fusion has been one of the first festivals my older sister took me to in 2012. Since then a feeling of awe stayed with me. So playing at this incredible festival was overwhelmingly exciting.

I want to thank all the great musicians for sharing their art!!!,
my loved ones for supporting and inspiring me and for holding my shaky hands that day (special thanks to you Matz aka Simon- my biggest support and special love),

neeks @ Dubstation FUSION 2025 - als ob.

Listen in on my Set @ Zugvøgel Festival 2025 - where I was invited to play at the wonderful “Sauna und Floora” stage on Saturday night, 1-3am. Starting off with a deep but rather groovable sound, i ended up leaning more into the very dreamy vibe of this lovely stage and mood there, featuring some more minimal/melodic and dreamy downtempo techno elements. The result being a hopefully very satisfyingly deep and slow burning journey, that keeps moving between grooviness, darkness, lightness and dreaminess. Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you so much to everyone who was present, honestly it was a bliss to have so many of you listen to my set and dance and sway - i’m super grateful for all the smiling and vibing faces I saw, it means a lot to me.
