 This theory challenges traditional grief models that focus on detachment, suggesting that grief involves a transformation of the relationship, not its termination. 

Continuing bonds can manifest as tangible keepsakes, memories, a sense of the deceased's presence, or even ongoing dialogues, allowing the bereaved to find new ways to connect and make meaning in their lives after loss.
