"Fred has been a buddy since Saturday Looks Good to Me used to tour through Ithaca while I was in school up there in the early aughts (I always feel weird using that term). I have some really great memories of my old band opening for SLGTM at The Chanticleer and Castaways and then of him doing his crazy sound collage dub deconstructions as City Center when he lived in Brooklyn for a couple years, before that project gradually evolved into another one of his expansive pop experiments. He's one of my absolute favorite songwriters and sound sculptors. I feel like he's a legitimate heir to Phil Spector, fortunately without the violent proclivities. Or the hair (less fortunately), although Fred's got some pretty stellar hair of his own. But he's got that absurd level of creativity and such a singular, idiosyncratic vision. He's also just one of the best dudes."
