The Path to Perceptions Podcast

Jack Mc Mahon (aka "Djackulate") is a Dublin based turntablist, multi instrumentalist and sample artist that has dedicated the majority of his musical life to mastering the turntable as a musical instrument. Currently the world freestyle scratching champion for the 2nd time, his technical ability and virtuosity using a turntable is world renowned, but musical focus is to marry simplicity and technical virtuosity to create dynamic live musical performances using a
turntable as the main instrument.
With an oddly wide range of musical influences, stemming from a lifetime of mining records and recorded music for samples, Djackulate is also a keen multi instrumentalist with a background playing various instruments such as saxophone, Uilleann pipes, EWI, Bulgarian Kaval, and flute.

In this episode of The Path to Perceptions we are discussing art, creativity and challenges of the industry with Juniper Foam - an interdisciplinary artist working in music, film and social practice. After receiving an MFA in Experimental Sound Practices from CalArts, he moved to Berlin and founded the record label, @careof , which he now runs as a collective together with his former students. His installations and audiovisual work move between the cinema of everyday life and the spectacle of remix culture.
