I called this song Open Waves because I thought that the synth at the beginning sounded kind of nautical. I hope that other people can hear that XD
(In case there's someone out there who doesn't know what that means, nautical refers to anything relating to ships and sailing.)
Ummm...oh yeah! This song was supposed to be track 5 on the album, but one night I did some crazy re-working of the tracklist, and now it's track 3.

Open Waves

Hello there, people of the internet! :)
I wasn’t planning on putting out anything new on this account until Christmas, but I made this a little while ago, and figured, why not?
I just became of fan of Lights this past summer, when I started using Apple Music and found a playlist of a bunch of her songs, but she has already become one of my favourite artists. Her songs are just so cheerful, and a lot of fun to listen to. Over the summer I would play her album Little Machines whenever my parents made me empty the dishwasher while they were at work, haha XD
Anyway, I really wanted to learn to play this particular song on piano one day, but my teacher and I couldn’t find any sheet music online, so we figured out the notes by ear after looking up the chords. A few months ago I made a cover of Taylor Swift’s Style on Beatwave (which is on my other account if you want to check it out), and I realized that I could do the same thing with this song. So I did, and then decided to upload it, and…yeah! Here we are!
I hope you enjoy this. I personally love this song, I can relate to it, and I really enjoyed making this cover. It took me a few tries, and I think it turned out pretty good!

Lights - Face Up (Beatwave Cover)

Merry Christmas, deck the halls, and fa-lah-lah-lah-lah to all SoundCloud folk!
This is my Christmas song that I actually made back in August. I was playing around with Beatwave, and I found a sound that sounded very Christmassy, so I made a song out of it! I made several different versions because I found with each one there was something that I wanted to fix.
Christmas is probably my favourite holiday because it’s just so cheerful, so I really wanted to make a tune that captured the spirit and joy of this time of year. I hope I succeeded : )

Winter Mornings

And here's the 3rd song from my EP!
This song was initially not going to be on the album. When I first made it, it was like 4 minutes long and really tedious and boring. Then I shortened it down to what it is now, and it's still a little long, but it's a million times better. Funny thing, I actually very briefly posted the long version to my other account to see if people would like it. I took it down because after a couple days only 4 people listened to it, haha XD The funny thing about that, though, is that a few days prior I'd re-watched The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which was my favourite movie as a kid, and I had an intense feeling of nostalgia. (I was even watching it on VHS!) Because of that, the art that was on the track was actually a picture of the old 'Feature Presentation' sign that used to come up when the movie would start, because there was no such thing as main menus or the 'skip' button, which meant that you had to fast-forward through all the previews before you could actually get to the movie.
(That explanation is going to make me look very old. Just so we're clear, I'm 14.)
Another thing worth mentioning about this track is that the artwork has an overly blurred picture of my yearbook from last year. That's because, for some reason, when I look back on last year, I feel intense nostalgia. Maybe it's because that was such a fun year, or because I was friends with a really nice and funny guy who never talks to me now, or because so many things have happened since then, I don't know. All I know is that I look back on last year, and I get kind of a melancholy feeling in the pit of my stomach.
WOW, that was a long description! I guess I'd better sign off now. Thank you so much for listening to this track! The next one will be uploaded on March 25th, and it's kinda intense, and a new style for me. I'm really excited to share it!

Nostalgia

Here we have the first track of my second album!
I remember I made this up at my cabin, and once it was done, I said to myself, "Okay, this is track 1." Similar to This Is How It Goes, I knew right away that this was going to be the opening track :)
And that leads into my next point: the album. It's done, it's ready, and I'm happy with it. So, I'm going to put out one track from it every Saturday until the full thing is out. They're gonna go in chronological order (except for the tracks from the EP that are already out), so next Saturday will be track 3, then track 4, and so on.
The album itself is called Just Live, and I have a reason behind that. When I was making this album, I had been thinking a lot about life. Between my obsession with Big Hero 6 and my grandpa passing away, that was just a topic that was constantly on my mind (if you've seen Big Hero 6, you'll know how that factors in). I was trying to come up with this really profound title for the album that had to do with life and was metaphorical in some way.
Then one day I realized it wasn't that hard. I had one thing that I was trying to say with the title, and all I really had to do was say it. Just Live.
That basically says it all. Just live your life, and don't let anything hold you back :)
So yeah! The album's called Just Live, and I will be uploading one track every Saturday until all the songs are out, which means that the full thing will be out on...(checks calendar)...July 23rd! The album's out on July 23rd ;)

The Journey

The next track on the album is technically Drifting Away, but since that one's already out, I bring you track 3, Road Trip!
This is another one I made up at my cabin. It takes 3 hours to get there, not including pit stops for food and gas and bathroom breaks, so I'd been in the car for a while. I can't remember if I made this track before or after getting there, but when I listened to it, I realized that it sounded like it just kept going and going and going, which is basically what road trips are. So, that's why I called it that :)
I honestly don't have much else to say about this one. Um...
Oh, I guess I should explain the little messages at the top of the descriptions. Well, one night I realized that since the album had to do with life, I should come up with explanations as to how the song titles stuck with that theme. So, in the middle of the night, I literally went over to my desk, got out a sheet of looseleaf, and wrote down a bunch of those little messages on it. One for each song title. I decided to put them at the beginning of each song, and then put them in one continuous line on the playlist so it looked like one big long message. So there you go!
I guess that's it for now! I hope you enjoy this track; I had fun making it. The next track will be out next Saturday, and it's named after something that I actually am :)
And as for the other account, I may be uploading a new song there sometime in the next little while. I started making songs on GarageBand a while ago (because I FINALLY figured out how to use it), and they sound pretty good. I've had musician's block for the past little while, but I'm going to try to get back into it sometime :)

Road Trip

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you track 4!
Okay, so this one is called Pianist because when I first made it I thought that the sound that kicks in around the 0:29 mark sounded a bit like a piano. I dunno if that's just me, but it's what I heard. I also made this track 4 because I too am a pianist :)
I don't have much else to say about this one, so...um...exam season! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay...(sarcasm)
I really should be studying more, but it's really hard for me to just sit there and read things over and over again. It's boring. But I also don't like being quizzed, so either way it's not fun. 
Well, on the bright side, the next time I upload a track on here, exams will be over! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! (for real this time)
Anyway, the next track is kind of a cute little thing that went through several re-works before I felt it was good enough to be included. It's coming next Saturday, so keep an eye out for that.

Pianist

EXAMS ARE OVER!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
What a fun way to start this thing, huh? XD
So yeah, I just finished my exams yesterday. The last one was Science, and it was easily the one I was most concerned about. But much to my pleasant surprise, it wasn't TOO hard. Hard, but not too hard. I think I'm gonna study more next time though, haha XD
Anyway, this is track 7! Funny thing about this one, it went from being an absolute 'no this is not going on the album', to a 'maybe this could go on' to 'this is going on'. When I made it, I didn't like it that much, so I just kind of left it. But I came back to it later because I liked the sound, and after re-working it a bit, I decided to include it because it sounded much better ^_^
I like this one because of how magical it sounds. I was trying to make it sound a bit romantic; I hope it worked. And the drumbeat in the background is supposed to sound a bit like a heartbeat for some reason. I don't know. I thought it would sound cool XD
And that's track 7 for ya! The next track is a very late addition to the tracklist, but I think it's one of the better ones on the album. It's coming next Saturday; the day after Canada day, and two days before I turn 15! :D

Moment in Time

Track 8, as you can see, is called Dragons!
The funny thing about this song is that it wasn't initially on here. This is probably the most recent song on the whole thing, actually. I originally had a track called Ninth Grade Dance, but the tracklisting was different so it was track 9. But as I listened to it a few times one day, I realized that it wasn't really that great. I just kinda wanted to have some kind of generic synth-pop song on the album, haha. I reworked it and reworked it, but I could just not get it to sound right, so I left it off, and for a while the album only had 12 tracks. But then I was going through my list of songs one day, and I found this one. I listened to it and decided that after some reworking of the tracklist, it would fit pretty well. So, here we are!
So yeah! That's pretty much it! Um...oh! I'm going to be turning 15 in two days! My friends are both coming over today, and we're going to go see Finding Dory and then have a sleepover. One of them is also bringing over Big Hero 6, so I can keep them awake with my screaming at Tadashi for being an idiot during that fire scene, haha XD
Anyway, I think that's it for now! The next track will be up next Saturday, and it's a very relaxing and calm one. I think you'll like it :)

Dragons

The next track is technically The Mountaintop, but since that's already up, here's track 10, My World!
This track is kind of a funny one. When I made it, I wasn't sure what direction I wanted it to go in. Then I listened to it, and...well, I play Minecraft, right? But I play the Pocket Edition version on my iPod, not the PC version. And I've heard that the PC version has background music, but I'd never actually heard any of it. And I'm probably very wrong about it, but this is how I imagined the music to sound. Just very open and imaginative. 
This song just kind of reminded me of Minecraft in general. The idea that when you load a new world, there's just a big wide open environment to explore and build in. You don't have any limitations, and you can just go crazy and make whatever you want. I find that awesome.
So that's that for the song. And in other news, it's also my dad's birthday today! He's 51, and although he was officially old a year ago, I like reiterating it whenever I can. And this is the perfect day to do that :)

My World

This is the second to last track from the album, and it was inspired by nature.
I was inspired to make this by an actual thunderstorm that was happening at the time. It was pretty loud, and I tried to incorporate all of the sounds I heard into this song. I think I did alright.
I am seriously running out of inspiration for these descriptions. It's probably a good thing the next track is the last one, or I'd end up going crazy from lack of ideas XD
Anyway, that's all I got for now. Like I said, the next track is the last one, and it actually started out as an experiment.

Thunderstorm

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the last track from this album!
Technically Early Bird is the last track, but it's already up, so yeah :)
The story behind this one is fairly interesting. This was initially just an experiment where I was going to make a songs with Beatwave sounds I hadn't used before and ordinarily would never use. But, as it went along, I decided it sounded pretty good, and I made it into an actual song!
And...that's pretty much all I have to say about this.
So yeah, with this track, the album is complete! Thank you so much to all you guys who have supported me and my music on SoundCloud thus far. I really appreciate it :)
I think I'm going to be taking a break from this site and from my music for a while. I just started up a Wattpad account for my writing, which there is a link to on my page, if you want to go check it out. I only have a fanfiction up so far, but I'm planning on uploading an original story soon. Unfortunately, you can only check it out if you have a Wattpad account, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
So this account is kind of going on hiatus. I know I kind of went on a hiatus in between my first album and the second, but this break will probably last longer. I may still upload tracks to my other account, Ultraviolet, but other than that, I'll probably be fairly absent from this site.

Beatwave

Final Battle

Hello there, person who is reading this right now!
I’ve been pretty absent from SoundCloud for a while, and I apologize for that. It seems that I’m procrastinating more and more on the things I need to or should get done these days, such as, my music. At the moment I’m kind of hopping between projects to see what I enjoy. I’ve been working a lot on my Wattpad story, if you want to check that out, but I’ve also been thinking about this Figure of Speech project I have in mind.
A while ago I was browsing the internet and I discovered this word, sonder. It refers to the realization that everyone around you has their own lives and their own stories and hopes and dreams and worries and fears that you’ll never know about because you only see them once in a store or a coffee shop or somewhere random. 
The word really stuck with me; I liked it and its meaning. A while later I found another word I liked; hiraeth. It refers to a homesickness for a home to which you can’t return, a home which maybe never was, or just nostalgia. Again, it was a word I’d never heard of, that had a great meaning. So I came with an idea for my next project. An album with songs whose tites were different words that aren’t used often, and have interesting meanings. That’s what I’ve been working on, and hope to finish sometime.
However, the concept has been a little harder than I expected, so this will probably take a little time. I was just really excited about this idea, and this track in particular, and so I decided to share this with you all and see what you think ^_^
So yeah, I haven’t been on SoundCloud a whole lot lately, but I figured I’d share my concept and this track just to remind you guys of my existence. Again, I’m sorry for not being more active on here, but I kind of tend to bounce back and forth between working on my writing and my music, and right now it’s my writing. But I’m sure it will switch back over again sometime.

Sonder

So, I have recently been obsessed with the musical Hamilton. It's just brilliantly written, brilliantly executed, and by gosh, I'll be darned if Lin-Manuel Miranda isn't just a gift to humanity.
I got the piano book for Christmas, and I figured I'd try to make a cover of one of my favourite songs from the musical. It's not quite done yet, but I figured I'd share the portion I have done. Consider it a very late New Year's present :)

An electronic project by me, a 16 year old girl with nothing better to do but sit at the computer and make music.
 
I call myself Figure of Speech because music is a true form of expression, like talking.

More info:
- My first SoundCloud account was called Ultraviolet04. Now it's just called Ultraviolet, but y'know, tomato tomahto :)
- I was inspired to make a project like this by Owl City, but the sound of my music is influenced by a lot of Lights' music.
- I make all of my songs on my iPod with an app called Beatwave. I've started using GarageBand a lot, though.
- This project was originally called Imagination Author, but I soon found that the name didn't fully suit a lot of the music I was making, which started out with a dreamy sound but soon became more EDM. 
- Figure of Speech is name I came up with back when I started making electronic on my old iPod with an app called Figure in 2012. 
- My first album was originally called Lost in Wonderland.
- I mostly listen to country music, but I like certain pop artists too.
- My very favourite artist is Taylor Swift.
- Other artists I listen to include Carly Rae Jepsen, Maddie & Tae, Owl City, Kelsea Ballerini, Danielle Bradbery, Hunter Hayes, Kacey Musgraves, Kira Isabella, Lights, and a little bit of Meghan Trainor and Fall Out Boy.
- I think I am the only remaining teenage girl who likes One Direction's music, but isn't obsessed with them. Their music is kinda my guilty pleasure...
- My favourite band is Paradise Fears. They're SO GOOD.
- I now hate the word 'soon' because of Adam Young. HONESTLY ADAM. WHEN IS 'SOON'??!! 
- But I still think that Adam Young is a gift to humanity.
- My lucky number is 4. Yeah, I know that's random XD
- I'm kinda obsessed with keyboard emojis. Y'know, :) :( XD :D ;), and so on.
- I enjoy writing in my spare time. I write some fanfiction (Big Hero 6, Percy Jackson...), but I've also made up several characters of my own that I write about. I just recently made a Wattpad account, and I've posted a story about said characters.
- I also draw pictures of said characters a lot :)
