"On Repeat" provides a three and a half-minute blissed out ride, indie rock built on a foundation of groove, melody and sun-kissed vibes that explores feelings of paranoia and entrapment, particularly ‘those that manifest themselves whilst under the influence of psychedelic substances.’

“The main riff that initiated the song was the first thing I played when I picked up my new Fender Telecaster and the lyrics followed. The song initially had a longer run time and a different structure, but the short poppy skeleton of the song was in part, the vision of Dave Parkin of Blackbird Studios, who produced the song.”

For the ‘On Repeat’ music video, Figurehead linked up with Cooper Gordon and Ashleigh Hunter  (Gordonco Visuals) to collaborate. Filmed at Perth’s Johnny Ma Studio, the ‘On Repeat’ video definitely captures the off-kilter dreamlike vibes the song itself produces. 

“They [Cooper and Ashleigh] were super organised and smashed it out in a day, including Joe having to get into a cold swimming pool for the underwater shots. Cooper and Joe had a clear vision for the video and the chemistry between the two was obvious.”

On Repeat

One More Time was written as an ode to the invigorating sensation of connecting with a stranger on a night out and dancing any past worries into yesterday. The follow up single from the band's upcoming EP details the shift in mindset from intoxication (in whatever form it takes) into the awareness and sobriety of finding human connection and interaction. Sometimes a conversation, a dance or a kiss can be all you need to charge on with a newfound spring in your step.

One More Time

Far From Here is a spacious, ethereally textured love song that tackles the difficult moments in a relationship. The lyrics outline how to see past the emotions you feel in these moments, to really understand the pain and trauma people carry with them every day and see it as a part of their overall beauty. This track was by produced by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studio.

'Sunday' is a fast-paced little number about taking on the adventure of life with full force, head-first into the fray.

The song explores how even when someone leaves your life, the time shared with them can be a catalyst for inner change and learning. The chorus lyrics 'I believe, if I'm the flame then you're the spark', drive the theme of the song home, encouraging positive personal growth after a failed relationship.

Equal parts emotionally charged and sonically packed, Figurehead's new single 'Mountains' has a little something for everybody. The lyrics detail an inebriated protagonist who is debriefing himself after an evening of frivolity, processing the night's events while the weight of his reality sets in on his slow, cold journey home. While retaining their surfy, West Aussie alternative rock sound, Figurehead stretch dynamic ranges in 'Mountains' and traverse through the song with bold intention.
