I am really happy & honoured to announce the officially licensed release of this rare disco / modern soul gem from 1980. Here is my small story about this : I have been introduced to this record a few years back by DJ Klas. On the very first listen, it made me crazy & I went on an intensive & long quest to get myself a copy of the 45. It then became a kind of classics of my DJ sets, the record always being in my bag. It is definitely a sure shot for the dancefloor ! 

I then got in touch with the artist Lamar Thomas, first to try to get a spare copy, but after a few conversations on the web, I told myself it would be nice to give this rare & excellent record a new release. Pascal Rioux & Favorite Recordings finally agreed on the idea, and here it is. 

Very happy & honoured to have contributed to this nice release. Big thanks to Josh Goldman aka DJ Klas, Roger Thornill (for providing the original sleeve art) & to Favorite Recordings for believing in this project!

It comes hard to say something about Spain's favourite duo Kyodai, the brothers have an impressive history of talent and timeless anthems, all impregned with their trademark finesse and their love for the perfectly crafted analog sounds. Paving their way to stardom with releases in Freerange, Local Talk and Exploited, they now deliver a pair of inspired dancefloor weapons filled with their flavor.

"Marea" is spanish for "tide", and as the oceans dance to the compass of our moon's gravity, their interpretation does the same with strong swaying dark synths creating a deep and hypnotizing climate perfect for the late night. 

"Palma" goes even deeper as melancholic chords take on the scene building a rich melodic journey for the mind and soul. Arpeggios, a rich amount of analog sounds and a driving bassline play with the mind and soul.

The brothers have a special talent when it comes to making you close your eyes and fly to another dimension of sound. We are happy to have them with us!

Kruse & Nuernberg have been dropping several hot productions without missing a beat. It was no brainer that they’d be chosen for the fourth volume of our Street King series. We’ve already had the pleasure of having Alex Kenji, Stefano Noferini, and Aki Bergen. Kruse & Nuernberg deliver a deeper element that perfectly fits the diversify the series. This EP provides you with just a taste of what’s to come. The first track is a remix of Sunshine Jones (formerly of Dub Tribe Soundsystem) “I Got Your Back” sets you in a trance you’d swear you were flying to various destinations simultaneously. Next up we have K&N’s remix of the spoken word joint “Flashback” which gives you a bit of that DJ Roland Clark flavor with an extra punch. Benjamin Shock’s “Can You Feel Me” is a nasty disco funk production that get you bumpin and jumpin. Last up on this EP is “Stealing Feeling” a DJ favorite that sets you back to 1990’s House music. You can’t help love the selections on here as they fit several different moods. You just can’t for wrong with anything from Kruse & Nuernberg.

New York based D.C. LaRue has been recording and performing since 1974 but it was his track “Cathedrals” in ’76 that really got him noticed amongst the heavy weight disco releases of the time.  The double A-side 12" single of "Cathedrals" was one of the earliest commercially available 12" singles and went on to hit number 1 on the Billboard Dance Music Club and Disco Single charts.

Subsequent singles “Overture” and “Indiscreet” both topped out at number 2 on the Billboard Dance Music Club charts and “Indiscreet” became an influential track in the hip hop sampling world.

Fast forward to the present day and armed with digital transfers of the original master tapes, Z Records has commissioned remixes of these classic tracks plus “Let Them Dance” and “Do You Want The Real Thing”.

Released over two limited edition picture sleeve 12’s pressed exclusively for Record Store Day 2018, the remixes come from Idjut Boys, Ron Basejam, Dr Packer, Folamour, JKriv and Joey Negro.
