So 2020 was a rough year for everyone. But for me, besides not really having any DJ money...a family member died to senseless gun violence, someone tried to break into my house, and I got harassed for being Asian riding my bike. That alone time gave me time to reflect and think about what I value the most and it's really this DJ stuff. It's the thing I've done the longest. This was engineered in San Antonio by my old pal Quad Rod at Archive Studio (where I recorded a good chunk of River Walk Riots back in the day). Travel back to January 21st, 2007, when DJ Jester the Filipino Fist warmed up the crowd for of Montreal and A Hawk and a Hacksaw at San Antonio's White Rabbit (now Paper Tiger). This raw, live mix was captured by an audience member named Spaztrick, offering a pure glimpse into Jester's vinyl-only setup of two turntables and a Rane TTM-56 mixer. Experience the unadulterated 'Jester weirdness' of that time: a surprising Neutral Milk Hotel start, a left-field George Strait interlude, and his unforgettable Chet Atkins meets 50 Cent conclusion. As Jester puts it, "This is definitely an old school Jester mix…before my pupils had to dilate while DJing from looking at a screen…and I danced on stage and clowned around on the mic more. Mikey Pendon, also known as DJ Jester the Filipino Fist, has been having the time of his life lately. From playing premiere parties in New York for much-celebrated films WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY and ASTEROID CITY to opening William Shatner’s keynote address at SXSW in his home city of Austin, Texas. “I think I’ve finally found my voice. Folks are finally asking me to play gigs that fit what I’ve been trying to do for the last twenty years,” says Jester on a break from his day job as a flight attendant. 
DJ JESTER IS FOR THE CHILDREN is essentially a children’s mix. But like the new Barbie movie it’s not really for kids. Released July, 23, 2023.
