coming home to me

When a 11 year old choir boy sings his first concert at Westminster Abbey, it sets a pretty high mark for his following career. Dirk Schilling, born and raised in Lübeck, had to wait quite a bit for more events of that range. Classical guitar lessons until the age of 17 and after that the electric guitar „fever“ infected him for ever. At the beginning of his twenties he settled in Cologne and started an eventful life as band and session player. King Candy, Bandaloop and Motorsheep as such as guitarist for Live-TV shows and side man for Joshua Kadison, Bonny Raitt and Patty Smyth. 
During the mid 90th it was again the electric „fever“ that made him part of Cologne's electronic scene and he released several records for Trapez (Kompakt) and other labels before he developed his main project „Filmpalast“.

He quickly made his reputation as producer and remixer what lead to a deal with Bristol's electronic label Hope Recordings and gigs on stages such as the Roskilde Festival. After several releases he follow his inner call to reduction and released a singer/songwriter album reduced to one acoustic guitar and his voice. 75 concerts and another album later, he took an offer to be part of Krautrock legend „Hoelderlin“ and fulfilled his childhood dream of playing the „Rockpalast“ at least once in his lifetime! 
During the last years he mainly worked in the studio for film and tv and developed the solo electric guitar slow motion ambient music he now presents on „Filmpalast“'s „Live At Villa Dufte“!
