Bulu’s first release of 2017 comes in the form of a 4-track EP on Fine Dining Records.
“Get Slew!” is a 160BPM pile driver taking influence from Grime, Jungle, Drum & Bass and Footwork. Chord Stabs, deep dark synths, rumbling subs, sharp percussion and chopped up grime vocals make this track a stomper set to shake any system.
“When He Drop”, although set at the same tempo, takes a different route to mayhem all together with a heavily broken jungle/footwork influence. Your ears are quickly assaulted by a barrage of snares and growling, cone blowing sub bass which are all over toned by laser stabs, animal like screeches and chopped up vocals.
The second half of the EP takes up a higher tempo angle with a track at 170BPM and 172 BPM. “Sink” is a track which hales more towards Drum & Bass whilst still employing Bulu’s usual half-time, percussion led, growling sound. "Twilight Kick” is a minimal yet beastly half-time, hip hop influenced track with a heavy drop that swoops unexpectedly out of a sparse, spacious and melodic intro to lay down a bed of sound design, subs and speaker splitting drums.
“Get Slew! EP” although only 4 tracks long does well to show off the versatility of Bulu’s higher tempo productions and in being partnered with Fine Dining Records has found a platform that truly suits it’s bass heavy sound.
