O estilo LoFi tornou-se verdadeira febre internacional através do Youtube e seu nome vem de “low fidelity” (baixa fidelidade), em referência à qualidade do som das fitas cassete, vitrolas antigas e descalibradas, chiados e simuladores de agulha de toca-discos. O termo foi popularizado nos anos 1980 pelo DJ William Berger, que tocava gravações caseiras em seu programa de rádio. Quem nunca viu aquela menininha sentada numa escrivaninha estudando, perto da janela com um gato? É a LoFi Girl, hoje verdadeiro ícone da cultura pop com inúmeros desdobramentos, inclusive com música brasileira, como mostra o carioca Joe Kinni.

Geralmente sem vocal, o Lo FI pode abraçar diversos estilos musicais dentro dele mas sempre conservando uma certa nostalgia, como na versão do carioca Joe Kinni, DJ e produtor musical que não se intimidou ao propor uma nova versão do hit: ”Sozinho é uma canção tão fantástica, tão capaz de despertar o sentimento que quis apenas deixa-la o mais leve o possível, como se embalasse um descanso gostoso a beira mar”.
