For the next release on Pleasure Club we are very happy to be reissuing some tracks from Anthony Boninsegna aka Nine-L.

Originally released on Metatone in 1993 and 1994, the 'Houston, We’ve Have A Problem' and 'Looking For Lord Lucan’ EPs have gone on to become rare collector's items.

Now we present a selection of tracks from those records plus one which has never been before released on vinyl.

B1. NINE-L - LOOKING FOR LORD LUCAN (PCLUB009)

In a secret laboratory in an unknown location, two lifeforms not of this world were at work.
Based on previous experiments, it was understood that when the two lifeforms were left alone together, they could create various elements from nothing, somehow communicating with each other what was needed through a sophisticated type of Internal Transmission.
As scientists watched and took notes, the lifeforms sat on the floor across from each other. They did not talk. They did not move. They simply sat, doing the impossible. The atmosphere began to transform and one lifeform produced Gold, Arsenic, Carbon, and Radium. Almost simultaneously, the other conjured up Oxygen, Mercury, Nitrogen, and Neon.
The elements swirled in the air until they finally combined. The result was astonishing. It was the exact same compound the lifeforms had been discovered with when they crash landed on Earth some 22 months before. A compound never seen before. 

A compound the world would come to know as VOIGT.MAS.

THREADS is back with another powerful VA.

Label co-owner A Virgo On The Moon joins forces again, after their Y7 with Paolo Mosca for the opening track which is a dreamy but powerful club cut. The second track marks the debut of the Ukrainian artist Kebab Traume and it is a fast tech house tool with clear Akufen - ish sounds.

The B-side opener is another strong club tool, this time more with that South American vibe provided by Peruvian Mario Liberti. The closing track is from matteo. who's back on THREADS after his solo EP, this time with Brazilian artist Lourene, and shows his dance floor side which we definitely like!

The release is dedicated to the loving memory of Andrea.

Following his EP for Amazing Stories, Otis makes good on his long time friendship with the Partisan crew via four dazzling cuts of future-minded machine 909 funk. 

“Attituned” is an infectious, swinging jam with cosmic synth lines, while “Laughing Budda” channels the starry-eyed energy of early Detroit and UK techno. “Oscillosoup” finds Otis pairing rolling breaks with a funked up bassline and plenty of wriggling synth licks, and then “Empatic” rounds the EP off with snappy electro drums, moody piano and acidic gurgles. 

Beyond the playful nature of his tunes, Otis’ unique sound is finished off with an understated swagger that that will rock the floor wherever it's played.

September 2018 will see the launch of Butter Side Up Records with a 12” that embodies the considered club sound of the much loved Leeds and London party. 

It comes from fast rising Idle Hands and Northsouth artist Christian Jay with a remix from The Brane owner Youandewan and offers four cuts of slick electronic house music complete with artwork by Sophie Doulala. 

Butter Side Up is a now eight-year-old party that has carved out its own musical niche. Dealing in tasteful house and techno with a leaning towards breakbeats, garage and real deepness, the night is built on a solid core of residents, with guests like Craig Richards, Nicolas Lutz and Margaret Dygas also having played their intimate events. The label’s outlook will continue in this vein, with a focus on releasing three EPs a year from talented friends and close associates. 

Opener ‘Running’ is dance floor focussed house with nimble rubber drums and slick hits that make you move. Curious synth sounds and rich design make it a timeless track with an air of sci-fi trippiness. ‘Green’ hits a little harder, with drilling sub bass that pulls you in deep as a microcosm of icy hits, alien sounds and synth trails flesh out the futuristic groove. 

Flipside ‘Jupiter’ is a cerebral warm up tune with spacious pads circling round as kinetic little hits, whirs and bass stabs paint a colourful cosmic picture. It’s a micro-groove that really gets under your skin, and is backed up with a remix from Youandewan. A long-time friend of BSU who has made his mark in Berlin with in the know cuts on cult labels like Eclipser Chaser, Voyage and his own The Brane, his version of ‘Green’ is super silky, with lush pads soothing your soul as the muted bassline and bouncy drums set your feet to work.

This EP marks a typically tasteful first instalment from the Butter Side Up boys.
