Just imagine if this happened and picture the setting…

It’s the late 1930’s and the local jazz club is packed to the brim with people awaiting the rapper Nas and his jazz musicians (orchestrated by Producer Funky DL) along with featured artists to come and play a 10-track set to forever be remembered. The lights are dim and the hall is filled with smoke, whilst the clinking sound of champagne flutes ambiently gesture in the atmosphere. Nas and Funky DL are having their picture taken outside the club in an array of spotlights glaring from their vehicles (see artwork). Then it happens… The two step inside and “JAZZMATIC” erupts … All you have to do now is… “press play”...  (PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS THE INSTRUMENTAL VERSION)

Recorded in 2017, Strange finds Gideon Jackson in full flow, bumpy, melodic, and raw slices of tech house that showcase the sound he helped shape in London’s underground.

We’re putting this mix out now to mark something special: Gideon’s long-awaited return to the decks, first at Archivio presents Wiggle (H0L0, NYC – Oct 18) and then at Wiggle (Gaffe, London – Nov 1). The mix is both a snapshot of where he came from and a taste of the roots he’ll be digging back into for these shows.

A reminder of why his name is woven into the early fabric of London’s tech house movement, and why we’re so excited to welcome him back.

Based in the outskirts of Chiba, I produce a wide range of tracks—from instrumental and abstract hip-hop to dark, minimal, and experimental beats.
Unbound by genre, I focus on groove, texture, and spatial atmosphere, building tracks daily in my home studio.

My musical influences include Green Assassin Dollar, Budamunk, Bugseed, DJ Krush, KREVA, and Mark Rae.

I began my career as a DJ in 1995 at the age of 17, initially drawn to deep, hypnotic techno.
Later, I became immersed in London’s underground, funk-driven tech house scene surrounding the WIGGLE movement, where I performed with a focus on minimal, swing-heavy grooves.

Today, I carry that sensibility into the realm of hip-hop, breakbeats, and leftfield rhythms—crafting instrumental works that explore the expressive power of space and restraint.
