REVIEW
Slightly Transformed bring us a five-tracker from Paul Older, an Italian producer whose work has also appeared on Hot Digits, Masterworks, Furious Mandrill, Tropical Disco and other labels. The man from Padova's dug admirably deep, so while all five tracks are re-edits we won't concern ourselves too much as regards source material: suffice to say that if your floor moves to original 70s-style disco (as opposed to its contemporary, more electronic variants) then any of the five tracks here will do the job nicely, with special mention going to 'Hot Deb' - AKA Debbie Jacobs' 1979 nugget 'Hot Hot' - which has pyeow-pyeow-pyeow! stabs to die for.

Paul Older - Malaysian Kitty [Slightly Transformed]

Hot Gorilla records boss Andy Buchan returns to Hot Digits Music with another super sleek EP of original Nu-Disco nuggets. Title Track “Awayo” opens with funky guitar loops, slamming trademark Buchan kicks and one hell of a bouncy b-line with almost “Voodoo Ray” vocal stabs. It’s a first rate opener that continues with “Disco Down” an arp driven trip to cosmic disco euphoria with an epic breakdown midway through. The rave pianos come out to play with “Swing That Thing” which is a full on nu-disco party banger before we slow things down with “Dream Walking”, a chugging piano filled journey to psychedelic wonky disco heaven. Waterford heroes Get Down Edits flip “Disco Down” on its head for a funk fuelled remix excursion to finish another superb EP from Mr Buchan.
