Premiere: Arzadous - Underground [TMOR011]

The fourth track of my 2024 Countdown project. Every month, one track until the end of the year. And when the countdown is over, I've got something special for you!

This particular track was very intense to work on. The vocal in the middle of the big break is an altered version of the poem "Boots" by Rudyard Kipling, performed by Taylor Holmes.

The first time I heard it, I felt shivers run down my spine. The topic that is being discussed is very serious: the repetitive thoughts of soldiers at war. It cites the simple day-to-day thoughts, to the inevitable PTSD related ones.

As Taylor Holmes' voice increases in emotion and intensity throughout the poem, I'd reckon it to match well with an epic build-up to convey a feeling, I yet have to find words for. A mix of sadness and empowerment, strangely intertwined.

In a world that seems less peaceful than hoped for, I can only try to imagine the impact war has on soldiers. I am deeply grateful for their sacrifices. I'm sorry. I wish things were different.
