Solid Steel (23rd January) Our guest in Hour 1 is Legowelt, a man of many guises,  but it's his most well known alias that delivers an exclusive mix for Solid Steel. He said this about his mix;
"A lot of unreleased stuff all over the place, mixed on the fly in a crude energetic manner on my old 80s Inkel mixer with built in analog delay recorded on a reel tape deck on slow speed. The music is a bit melancholic, a bit romantic, for grim overcast days of snow and rain with some sun rays coming in occasionally…. a prelude to the spring. Slowly mixing towards a happier vibe. No shallow dumb inbred shit for "Blokes" this is for mad dealers and freaks!"

I had a lot of some older releases on my hard disk so I used them to create this set. I set the tempo around 115 bpm.
Because this is my first dubtechno mix there will be some little glitches in it.

Roman Flügel and Andrew Weatherall supply two outstanding remixes of Phil Kieran recent album ‘Blinded By The Sun’, which David Holmes claimed is “one of the best electronic dance inspired records in recent times.”

Mixmag described Phil Kieran as “one of those producers that impresses with every release” so it comes as no surprise that two music heavyweights have jumped on board for remix duty. Kieran accounts Flügel and Weatherall to both having a heavy influence on his career.
German DJ and producer Roman Flügel is easily one of the most revered names in the dance music spectrum. His take on ‘No Life’ is a masterclass in production. Flügel has created a track that is powerful whilst also superbly intricate. Flügel holds over twenty years of experience, extensively releasing on a number of labels whilst also co-founding Ongaku, Klang and Playhouse Recordings.

UK born DJ and producer maestro Andrew Weatherall remixes ‘Finds Love’ and reminds the listener of how beautiful electronic music can be. Combining cosmic layers with the ethereal vocal, this is a lesson in what a remix means. Weatherall has been experimenting with techno since the 90s, and well regarded as one of the world’s most influential DJs.
Kieran created a ten track narrative in ‘Blinded By The Sun’, inspired by his experiences in the industry. It was met with high acclaim globally and this remix package further imprints his vision on pioneering imprint Hot Creations.

I met Raf Simons years ago at 10 Days Of Techno in Ghent, Belgium. He sat for hours quietly listening to me until the early hours of the morning. Afterwards I found out that he was a huge fan of my Plastikman album ‘Consumed’ and linked by our shared love of music, art and fashion we stayed in contact and developed a great collaborative friendship!
Raf recently celebrated his first collection at the helm of Calvin Klein and not only invited me to perform at the after-party but also to create a special mix for the dinner he was planning as part of the celebration. Knowing that Raf is very open-minded to the outer reaches of cerebral Electronic Music, I felt it was appropriate to create a mix that weaved through some of my favourite Techno tracks that don’t always find their way into my normal four-to-the-floor club sets.

Nicola Robinson and Izaak Gray are Earthboogie. If you haven't heard of the duo yet, do yourself a favour and check out their debut release "Mr. Mystery" on London's Leng Records, which was released last year. The pair are known for their travelling custom Quod sound system but are now also making a name for themselves on the production front as well. Fusing afro rhythms with cosmic influences while retaining a funk that is uniquely theirs, the boogie in the pair's name is well merited.

Ahead of their forthcoming album, "Human Call" which is due out this coming May, Earthboogie are set to release one of the singles, Silken Moon, as well as a remix from Felix Dickinson and a remix of the yet unheard title track on the album from Ali Kuru, which is our premiere today. The Turkish virtuoso, who released his own album on Leng not all too long ago, sheds his usual exotic flavour and brings forth an intergalactic workout leaning in a more DJ-friendly direction on his version of Human Call. This late night burner is full of afro-funk fuelled rhythms, a fat, steady bassline and enchanting vocals all mixed into a booty shaking cocktail perfectly mixed for the dancefloor.

Not only do we have the exclusive premiere of the track today, but the video as well, a part of Earthboogie's quirky sci-fi story based in outer space. If you missed the Silken Moon release party and the live streams over the weekend, don't sweat, as the record itself is out this week!
