I Want To Be Alive With You

I was sitting at the keys playing this song I’d been a bit obsessed with the past week. Father John Misty had always been a standing favourite for me, but this song had been popping out more recently.   Something about its blatant desperation seemed a bit problematic but so common in lots of people and delivered so perfectly that it had drawn me in with its strong obsession. 

Max and Finn had left the house to venture to the bottle shop and Andrew was upstairs.
I was just about to lay down a take by myself with no more effort intended but that, when Max and Finn returned. We each grabbed a drink and I went back to the keys and Max jumped on drums. We did one or two more takes before Finn joined us on bass, and later Andrew joined us on percussion. We did about 5 or 6 takes before we played the one you're hearing now. (with additional overdubs) There was something so organic and beautiful about the way this song came together, a nice little spark that I really feel captures the idea of what CQ is and does in our finest moments.

It's always been a pleasure for us to connect the way we do musically and to have this song I'd fallen in love with come to life through dear friends felt like a great achievement. Please enjoy our cover and please don't die x
