Biding Time

I live in Bahrain and write play sing and record everything I put up here. I have a full time job "my other life" which pays the bills but there is nothing more satisfying than creating something that wasn't there before. A song!  Even if it's bad!
I play most of the instruments (guitar, drums, keyboards) on the songs. Bass or woodwind is just VSTi keyboard as are any other woodwinds, brass etc.
Vocals are unfortunately, me. I don't like my voice, but I try!!
I can be a bit of a gear freak but most guitar is played on a 20 year old Squier Silver Series Strat recorded straight into Samplitude or Studio One. Drums are done with Jamstix or Addictive drums hooked up to a little Yamaha dd-65 (thank god for midi editing!) and my favourite synth is Gladiator. I enjoy mixing and mastering almost as much as recording but sometimes you can disappear up your own arse! Keep it simple.
I would like to play more live gigs but just do not have the time. There are some great musicians in Bahrain ranging from Arab to Phillipino to South African and Cuban.
If anyone wants to collaborate on songs out there it would be great. I get frustrated at having nobody to play with on a regular basis or to bounce ideas with. Saying that, check out Jim Hanlon, a Canadian singer/songwriter with whom I sometimes jam with and his friend JP Cormier who is one of the most gifted musicians I have ever had the pleasure to play with.
