Roberto B (@mgxloop and @volt5000) and I now present track 5, "Nouveau monde", in our work-in-progress album of late 2022 - and we hope that you'll enjoy it.

The track was created in collaboration in September 2022 (initial composition, recording and mix in MAGIX by Roberto B), 16 October 2022 (subsequent composition, arrangement, recording and mix in GarageBand iOS and Logic Pro X by Alex M), and 18 October 2022 (additional arrangement, recording and final mix in MAGIX by Roberto B), and posted here on SoundCloud on 22 October 2022 (by Alex M), before the album as a whole.

The artwork cover for the track was designed and completed using PowerPoint and Mac OS Preview by Alex M on 18 October 2022 - in coordination and agreement with Roberto B.

Nouveau monde - Roberto B & Alex M

Originally the title was Epicurus. Then I put it in the drawer for a while and now I took it out again. After 
I reworked the song, it was supposed to be called "Vernissage des Epikur". After I was allowed to participate in a vernissage two weeks ago, I shortened the title. I think the song reflects very well what I was allowed to experience as a photographer on the evening of the vernissage.

Ursprünglich hieß der Titel Epikur. Dann hab ich ihn eine weile in die Schublade gesteckt und jetzt wieder rausgeholt. Nach dem ich den Song überarbeitet hatte, sollte er zunächst "Vernissage des Epikur" heissen. Nachdem ich vor zwei Wochen selber an einer Vernissage teilnehmen durfte, habe ich den Titel gekürzt. Ich finde der Song spiegelt sehr gut wieder was ich als Fotograf am Abend der Vernissage erleben durfte.

This came out of a piece I'd been developing over a couple of weeks, searching for variations around a central theme on felt piano. After a couple of less than successful attempts at developing the track with a fixed bpm I ended up freestyling it as an improv with some subtle drones from Spitfire labs Foghorn, a unique and free library of sounds derived from recordings of the Sumburgh head Foghorn on Shetland. 
One of the options in the labs library is a selection of engine room noises from the two diesel engines that power the foghorn, I wondered whether the engine room could stand in for percussion on the track and here is the result. Thanks for taking time out to check it out.

The Steep Valley

At home producer of electronic tracks in varying styles - I really enjoy experimenting with melding different genres. 
Been writing songs since the mid 70's whilst playing bass & drums in various bands (the first one was a punk band) and digitally writing since 2006. Retired now, so much more time for having fun with music :) It's just a hobby for me these days; Soundcloud is just a great place to share music & connect with people who have the same interests.
