Without words

This sonata is part of the earliest group of sonatas that Mozart published in the mid-1770s. The work was written down during the visit Mozart paid to Munich for the production of his La finta giardiniera from late 1774 to the beginning of the following March.

This first movement (of three) is a sonata-allegro movement that is concise, with an economy of ideas - the development section is a mere 18 measures long.

Practicing piano is something I NEED to do in order to keep my chops up and also give me inspiration for when I'm writing my own records.  This here was a favourite of mine many years ago when I was competing (though I'm more rusty at it now!).  Mendelssohn's beautiful Songs Without Words Opus 102 No. 4 or otherwise known as the The Sighing Wind.

I performed this on a Bechstein D 282 which gives it that metallic and powerful sound.

An ambient piano track that I hope will create some emotion for you, probably best heard on headphones, I hope you enjoy it.

Originally this idea came by listening to a YouTube video on composition then I used it as the basis for a short challenge piece on Max Konyi’s Sonic Sorcery channel under the title “Where I Must Return“

I turned it into this ambient track, I will possibly use the idea to create a choral piece in the future (maybe!).
