Crash Course (ft. Louisa)

Rare Elements’ first single of the year offers synth-infused distorted guitar alt hard rock. The single was recorded, mixed, and mastered in December 2023 at Rare Elements’ studio on Tampere, Finland. Harri Sarpavaara is responsible for the composition, arrangement, lyrics, and production of the song. He also plays all instruments and sings on the track.

Lately I rummaged through my harddrive and found an old track I recorded 10 years ago. That was when I startet using a DAW to record. As always when trying out something new I did some blues chords and improvised over them. Now I rediscovered this old recording and my wife told me that it's not that bad ;).
So searched for that old daw-project and loaded it. Some of the plugins I used back then were missing so I added ezdrummer and a bass plugin, and a new vst-amp on the guitar track. I do not have the guitar I used anymore. I think it was a Washburn.
So, here's the result. As always, feel free to comment etc.

New Year, Old Blues (Instrumental)

This song is about my wife and children, my daughter was my first born so I refer to her in the song.  Just so there is no confusion, my wife is still very much alive and my daughter still lives at home with us because she is young. The song is about the past, present and the inevitable future.
My original arrangement for the song did not represent the song very well so I asked John Baker to put together a magical arrangement for the song that would touch people in the way I had originally intended. John has done a super fantastic job on the arrangement and has given it a full orchestral music track that really makes it shine.  He also corrected some of my production issues in it.
