I Was Only Dreaming

An early semi acoustic piece from the late 1980s.  I play guitar and bass, and was recorded with a simple tape recorder.  You can hear air  and traffic noise in the background.  I guess you could call it "atmosphere."

Sig Ep

I was asked to play bass in a Rush cover band, called Risk.  I was originally a guitarist, but love Rush so I jumped at the chance.  We did a few original songs, too.  This was in the late 1980s.

One of quite a few solo projects I was working on.  All instruments played by me.  This was from the early 2000s.

Asymmetrical Blues

Strange one-up industrial music project I did while in ultrasound school.  The songs are about the properties of sound and how they apply to imaging.  I sampled audio from a scan of my carotid artery and used it as a looped track.  All noises and instruments by me.  The project was named Transducer and was late 1990s/early 2000s.

The Doppler Shift

The track got it's name from me hearing a chord while two leaf blowers were operating.  This was mid to late 90s and was originally going to have vocals.  Everything you hear is played by me.  Parts of it are a bit rough.

Leaf Blower

Sort of Ska/Reggae/Rock Steady-ish thing.  It's got a lot of overdubbing because I couldn't find the master tape....and I had changed stuff.  This was written way back in the 1980s but not really recorded until the mid 90s.  All instruments by me.  I don't like the title either, but this was the working title for so long....

Big City Night

This really does not have a name.  Some sludgy doomish rock.  From the 1990s.  I play all instruments.

Track 11

I played percussion in the John Burroughs High School Jazz Ensemble.  In this song I am playing temple blocks.  I also played a variety of hand percussion, and mallet percussion, including vibraphone.  This is from a concert in 1986.

Louisiana Bebop

Bassist for the Los Angeles based Bulldawg Blues Band.  Also a solo progressive rock and black metal multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and voice.  Also plays the Great Highland Bagpipe.

"I have been playing music my whole life, starting out on the organ, because my grandfather played. When I heard Led Zeppelin's Heartbreaker, I had to pick up the guitar, and played throughout junior high and high school. I was still a guitarist when I was asked to join a progressive rock band as their bassist. So I basically cut my teeth as a bassist in prog rock, as well as the college jazz band. I have been playing bass now for 25 years.  My biggest bass influences are John Paul Jones and Geddy Lee.  Other big musical influences include Wayne Lytle (Animusic), Akira Takasaki (Loudness), Neil Peart, Willie Dixon, and JS Bach.  Yeah, that's eclectic.  I'm also a huge fan of robotic bands, including Captured! By Robots, Compressorhead, The Trons, and The Three Sirens.   I have recently discovered the Swedish rock band Ghost and I am now a huge fan."
