The problem with Steeleye Span, Fairport and the like is that over the years they've grown to be some kind of "boomer revival acts", with some exceptions (i.e. 2013's Wintersmith by Span was a funny and interesting thing). That however shouldn't make us forget the fact they used to be great bands, with sparks of genius

This episode looks at the ballad Blackwater Side aka Blackwaterside aka Down by Blackwaterside and the journey that it took from a Traveller site outside Belfast in 1952 to the first Led Zeppelin LP. A winding river of a song, this episode looks at its multiple obscure sources as well as its many meandering tributaries.

First of all, I’d like to thank you for the opportunity — I really like you all.
I’m Sandro, I’m a painter and I occasionally DJ as well. I’m part of the Tundra collective and I’ve recently started making music — and that’s thanks to you, as Living Room influenced me a lot. Thank you for that!

q. is there a story behind the mix?
a. I’m not sure, but it definitely gives me a lot of chills.

q. what’s the best way to enjoy your mix?
a. Looking at the sea — or whatever way you feel most in tune with while listening :)

q. describe a favourite object in your living room...
a. it’s an old piece of furniture where my mother kept all kinds of stuff, and those things are still inside.

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
a. Yes, I’m currently working on a painting about my uncle who passed away recently, and I would also like to dedicate this mix to him, as I love him.
