Main level theme written for "Race the Rainbow", a Unity game that my teammates and I designed and created over 48 hours at the Global Game Jam.

The game's visual scheme ended up being vibrant but simple, so I conceptualized this piece as a sort of "modern chiptune" song. Whatever that means :P

Chromatic Circuit ("Race the Rainbow" Main Theme)

I've always loved the songs "Uninstall" by Chiaki Ishikawa and "Tatta Hitotsu no Omoi" by KOKIA. I  noticed one day how similar the chord progressions were and decided to try combining them. This mashup was the result :P

This is an update to my upload a few weeks ago, with one particular section edited. Song created in Audacity, ~6 hours. The technique I used for extracting the vocals from Uninstall was pretty painful and it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but *shrugs*. Good learning process though.

This is my first attempt at a mashup; it's pretty rough and I definitely still have a lot to learn. I'd appreciate any suggestions and opinions in the comments! Thanks :)

Main theme for "The Situation is Grim," a game my teammates and I made for the 48-hour Global Game Jam 2024. We made a rapid-fire target matching game about banishing souls to the underworld!

Main level theme for "Bunny Beats," a rhythm game about rabbits making mochi on the moon. My teammates and I made this game for the Global Game Jam 2016 across a total of 48 hours.

As you probably realize, this song isn't an original. I didn't get around to starting the background music until pretty late and was too tired to compose something original, so I threw together this arrangement of "Fly Me to the Moon" (which I thought was appropriate because of the moon theme and all that xD)

Finished in ~3 hours in FL Studio, with DSK Asian Dreamz VST.

【Kanimey x Torchie】 HOW CLOSE YOU ARE (Miyano Mamoru) Vocal Cover

I wrote this solo instrumental work for my cousin, a young piano student currently reaching that age where so many often grow disenchanted with continued studies. Although I initially concepted this piece as something that would be powerful and motivating, I couldn't quite get away from my inclination to write something soft and touching instead. In the end, I came to a compromise: I would retain the calmness, but aim to also achieve something uplifting, something that would leave the listener with a lingering sense of warmth.

I've been listening to a great deal of music from anime recently, particularly the music of Gurren Lagann (Taku Iwasaki), Kara no Kyoukai (Yuki Kajiura) and 5 Centimeters Per Second (Tenmon). I've been enchanted by the wealth of beautiful instrumental music in these soundtracks, and I tried to emulate some of its beauty. If you're familiar with those source materials, I'm sure you can hear some of their influences in this piece.

Respite (Piano Solo)

Main theme for "Our Voyage," a narrative/strategy game that my teammates and I made for the Game Dev Duel 2016! We had the month of July to make a game with the theme "Character."

I composed this song in FL Studio with the help of my newly acquired EastWest Hollywood Orchestra and Stormdrum libraries. Total time spent was probably about 10 hours. There was definitely a learning curve, and I also didn't have time to balance instruments/mix/add the intro and ending I wanted, but eh :')

Major influences: Dragon Age Inquisition, Skyrim, Soul Calibur II

Noir ("Bar Story" OST)

Main theme song/level music for "Frankenkart", a game we made for the 48-hour St. Louis Scatterjam 2017. Our game is a customizable monster-part competitive kart racing game!

Song composed & produced in ~10 hours. I even managed to slap in a quick attempt at mixing this time (though it's definitely not WELL mixed tbh). If I had more time I would go and put in more expressions/velocity changes but in the spirit of the jam, I wanted to share what I was able to accomplish within the time limit. This track has the most musical content I've generated for a 48-hour game jam so far and I'm pretty proud of it; hope you guys enjoy!

Halloweenie ("Franken Kart" Main Theme)

Main theme song/level music for "Final Transmission," a game my teammates and I made for the 48-hour Global Game Jam 2018. Our game is a shoot 'em up with the ability to leave final messages for future players!

I produced this song in 6-7 hours. I reused an old melody from a previous game jam game ("United We Stand" from Vanguard Delta), so it's more or less a remix of that song. Doing orchestral stuff was a bit of a challenge in the time I had but as always with game jams, it's about what I managed to finish in the time I had.

Main theme song/level music for "Animal House," a game my teammates and I made for the 48-hour Global Game Jam 2019. We made a competitive furniture-arranging party game for up to 4 players!

I produced this one in ~10 hours, though brainstorming took a long time and my musician's block only subsided after Nyan recommended the Mario Party OST. I've always wanted to try writing 12-bar blues so I'm happy I finally got a chance! If I had more time, I would have added in a few more sections, but as always, game jam time limits ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Furniture Frenzy!!! ("Animal House" Main Theme)

Main theme song for "Propaganda Machine," a game my teammates and I made for the 48-hour Global Game Jam 2020. We made a puzzle game where you play as a government censor, for the glory of the Party!

This one was done in about 7 hours from brainstorm to actually finished track (a record for me)! I studied up on quite a bit of Soviet music for this one, and funnily enough, John Philip Sousa for the march style. Not mixed well game jam time limits yada yada.

【Piano】 大鱼海棠 Main Theme - Big Fish & Begonia | Happy Birthday Kanoe!

Level music for "This Mortal Coil," a game my teammates and I made for the 48-hour Global Game Jam 2021. We made a visual novel / puzzle game where you try to bring peace to a ghost's lingering worldly regrets.

This one took about 2-3ish hours total, not counting me just doodling around on piano for ideas. I did take some time to put the distinct layer tracks together into a cohesive piece afterward. Happy that I finally got to work with some dynamic music in our game again!
