‘Summer’ the new single from Lewis McLaughlin is a testament to the simple joys of being young, having few cares in the world, whatever the weather. It brings musical escapism - asking us to leave our worries in the house and enjoy a moment with others in the sun. It draws influence from traditional forms and filters them with a contemporary lens to blend alt folk and rock into something unique.

A choir of Lewis’ rich musical network gels the track; “the song has always been very strongly focused on inclusion, community and togetherness. I hope that comes across in this version and the music video.” 

It was recorded in Glasgow where he currently lives. He is 20 years old and was inspired by the likes of John Martyn and Villagers to begin writing and recording his own songs.

Sorry it has been so long since my last recording. Considering I recorded a couple 90's songs and a couple 80's songs I thought that it would only be fitting to record a song from the 70's next. I started recording this song about 9 months ago but never finished it due to everything else in life keeping me too busy to do any music. Recently I was thinking it would be cool to finish the song during the spooky season of Halloween so I put some other projects on hold for a bit to get this out. I have never played or sang music like this before coming from a punk background but hope you like it. I normally do everything myself, not just the instruments and vocals but all of the recording and production as well so it is usually a very lengthy and time consuming process.
