The collective houses good vibes for the city with its monthly day-party titled, The Wave. The Wave recently won the group, "Best of Boston’s Best Dance Party of 2015." Founded by Ray Leroy and Paul Francois, the collective also includes Seun Ajewole, Kibee Miller, Owen Lumadede and Brian Karanja.

When I think of the definition of a BOSS, one of the first people who come to mind is Malia Lazu. She can cuss about the litter she’s tired of seeing on the street, and then beautifully pitch your own business idea to you, before you even have it solidified.

That’s what makes her Malia though. 
She’s genuine. She’s informed. And she puts in the work.

Activist, civic organizer and all-around innovator, Malia Lazu is the Founder and President of Epicenter Community, a community that embodies the values of authentic diversity and the art of real conversation, while inspiring inclusive collaboration and delivering positive impact within the Boston community.

Previously, Malia started MassVOTE at 19 years old, was a Community Innovators Fellow at MIT and the co-founder and executive director of Future Boston Alliance.

On today’s episode we’re talking about the nonprofit sector, neighborhoods, and the first-year experience seeing your very own community change before your eyes.

Still very much in life’s transitional phase, as am I, listen as Kiana and I talk about new beginnings, the absurdity of this week and the beauty and fear that’s intertwined with embracing the process.
