The Resurrection of Bastet the Devourer

In January of 2012 Fisthammer was asked by my sister Madi Diaz to be the backing band in her "Gimme A Kiss" music video which we did and then we were asked to cover her song as well, so here it is free of charge.

It was hard for me at first to want to approach the song to be honest.I spent a long time thinking about the integrity of the band, but then came to the realization that my job as an artist covering this song was not to have it be like the original but to have it be Fisthammer playing a Madi Diaz song.After that it was easy and honestly really fun taking a love song and rearranging the chord intervals to be more agressive.and it was so much fun taking these single note segments such as the intro and verse and turning them into riffs with diminished tonality.

I spent about 2 weeks creating this arrangement and then taught it to the band and 2 weeks later we were in the studio recording it.

Recording the lyrics for this song was maybe the most entertaining part and I will be 100% honest in saying that it was an interesting and slightly refreshing change of pace.I had a great time doing this and am proud of the outcome.After this experience I also feel there should be more brutal love songs......not from me....but from someone....haha
