Multi-talented artist Note has been making waves recently with a unique and refreshing take on future soul Drum & Bass. In the summer he turned many heads with the release of his elegant and intriguing single Vespertine with singer / poet aya dia. With the days now getting shorter and the temperatures dropping, the Manchester beat-maker delivers the impressive Cold Nights on The North Quarter. This is the second single of an ambitious EP project he has been working towards: Impressions Of A Still Life. Cold Nights is a deep and soulful composition to see you through the winter months; a small taste of great things to come from Note.

In a music landscape torn between the Zoomer-led drum and bass revival and the guardians of its underground roots, Note has somehow managed to find his own lane. Since his debut in 2021, Note has left an indelible mark on the scene, recognized for his ever-evolving, soulful sound that effortlessly blends avant-garde jazz, hip-hop, and R&B into meticulously crafted drum and bass/jungle compositions.

In the midst of a frenetic drum and bass scene, Note sought refuge in authenticity, returning to The North Quarter to create his boldest and most diverse work to date. Drawing inspiration from post-impressionist art, 'Impressions Of A Still Life' unfolds like a series of vivid paintings, capturing the essence of stillness through lush instrumentation, deep bass, and chopped breaks.

In these five tracks crafted for the dance-floor, Note paints a vibrant portrait that celebrates the joy found in life's simpler, quieter moments. 'Impressions Of A Still Life' is not just an EP; it's a sonic journal that captures the essence of Note's journey towards authenticity, gratitude, and the blissful stillness at the heart of his music.

A historical unique archive documenting the history of black emancipation movements and individuals in the Netherlands, managed by the New Urban Collective. It consists of unique book collections, archives and artefacts that are the legacy of Black Dutch writers and scientists. More than 10.000 books in the collections focus on racism and race issues, slavery and (the) colonization, gender and feminism, social sciences and development, Suriname, the Netherlands, Antilles, South America, Africa and more.
