Conversing By Myself - Piano Solo - Nocturne, 21 Jan

Fivos Valachis has come up with a marvellous idea of collaborating with various artists to create an album to raise money for "Doctors without borders". Fivos supplied me with the original piano track of his tune "Color your life orange" & I added many layers of orchestral instruments. Because Fivos had already taken the piano duties in this piece, I opted for my second instrument, the guitar & basically played it as a duet with his lovely melody line.
Hopefully this tune will be inspirational & uplifting to all those that listen. Enjoy!

And here comes the very first acoustic recording of my new grand piano :) Arty spent an hour playing with different positions of mics and finally got sound that he wasn't shy to share. Certainly, there is a lot of experimenting to be done to get a better recording, this is mostly a very first try to record my new baby.

Both me and Arty are big fans of "The Piano" movie and Michael Nyman's compositions and this piece is one of my all times favorites to play and improvise on. I hope I did it justice. I don't have notes, so it's an improvisation played by ear.

It's Been Almost Two Years

The national numismatic greek museum, commissioned me for the original music for an exhibition dedicated to Antinous (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antinous).
The opening day is May 18, the International Day of Museums, so the event will have international coverage.
Numbered albums will be printed and presented to special guests (ministers, intellectuals, journalists, TV etc.) and there after the album will be distributed.
The tracks are 3.
On the opening day the music will be presented in a live piano concert.
What am I looking for? Different arrangements for these tracks.
The arrangements chosen, will be included in the album (maximum 3 for every track), obviously with the credentials of the musician and the participation of 30% of the sales of each track.

September is always a magical month of the year anywhere else in the northern hemisphere. It never ceases to present the perfect opportunity to go outside and enjoy the wonder of nature. It's the perfect moment to feel the warmth of the sun on your face as it pierces through the branches of trees whose leaves may have already been to show small signs of color. Its a perfect time to be thankful for the fun of summer and to prepare us for the deeper seasons we are about to enter. It always feels strangely like a graduation ceremony as well as the start of the next level of our growth and understanding. Its a decidedly peaceful month. It's a time of the year as well as state of mind. Perhaps the entire world could live in September for a while.

It humbly attempts to capture deep feelings of awe, granduer, idealism, and a belief in the innate goodness of the world even when we all face exceptionally hard lessons.

"I found out recently that someone very dear to me had died. 
Her name was Mary, we first met when I was a youth worker in south London nearly ten years ago. The offices of the charity I worked for were in the back of a church, Mary would sit at the reception desk at the front of the building and improve the world of anyone who entered it. Although previously unreleased - I wrote this piece of music about her in 2011, borrowing the title from a book she'd written much earlier in her life (about her travels to Ecuador and the community she'd become part of there)."
