Focused on showcasing cutting-edge underground techno, Adam Beyer’s always got an eye on the future when curating Drumcode Ltd. With impressive releases on Tiga’s Twin Turbo and Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains imprint, 24-year-old Billy Turner piqued his interest with his accomplished productions that belied his tender age. 

Taking inspiration from the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Truncate and Planetary Assault Systems, Turner’s four-track debut ‘Don’t Talk To Me About Style’ was birthed in his home studio throughout 2017. The industrious Brit delivers a powerful peak-time EP of nocturnal techno that moves between different moods. The title track pops with a thick grinding bassline and trippy synth effects, before ‘Escape’ envelopes you into a subterranean world. ‘Diodes’ follows, a fantastic slice of electrifying techno that bucks like a rodeo bull. The EP concludes with the blazing ‘Tunnel’, that makes its mark with deft drum arrangements and a piercing call-to-arms siren.

Spanish artist based in Malaysia Road To Mana is back with another of his hugely emotive house EPs. It comes on the reputable SOSO label and features two originals with a remix by label boss Oliver Schories.

Opener Your World is nearly eight minutes of brooding house, with a waify synth riff floating above the drums and a pained lead bringing a heavy heart to the soft and supple drums. Oliver Schories remixes it into a more driven cut, with surging yet warm pads and slick drums sinking you into the groove. 

Chasing Shadows from Road to Mana is then another soothing affair with zoned out vocals and rich melodies. It's spine tingling and far sighted and sure to carry you away in a reverie. The instrumental mix is even more dreamy and ageless, with horizontal grooves really making you forget the everyday world. 

Once again then here Road to Mana shows off his unique sounds and skills, that point to a massive future!!

"The Argentinean artist also lays claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden. Now making his much anticipated Movement Recordings debut, Sebastian presents his ‘Machines’ EP.

Beginning the title cut Sebastian explores the deeper side of his studio repertoire. Free and flowing from the outset it’s well carved low end provides momentous swing while quirky hooks and timely vocal gates fill in the framework. Stripping down into the main break, the vocal narrative expands, opening up a spiritual reservoir before effortlessly shifting energy into a buoyant finale act.

The second selection ‘The End’ follows a similar sonic ethos with a leaning into pure progressive territory. Beginning with a warm, rolling groove the piece moves with discernible momentum as layers of drums and rugged rhythms converge for a hearty rhythmic core. Charming vocal gates and elegant atmospheres flow beautifully into an emotive centrepiece, as mounds of bass build a subtle tension, while ghostly pads and hopeful overlays fully saturate your pleasure centres. An impassioned creation from Sebastian.

The release concludes with ‘Budapest’ which presents a myriad of emotions across its nine minute journey. Beginning with a dark, ominous vibe the creation evolves through mounds of bass, waves of percussion and cross cultural motifs, eventually transitioning into an emotive state of mind. Poignant keys and wispy atmospherics elevate the mood during a second act bridge, before melting down into an otherworldly centrepiece led by a spiritual vocal, perfectly setting up a cosmic finale. It rounds out a superb Movement Recordings debut for Sebastian, setting up what should be an incredible year for the talented Argentine. Highly recommended."

The Rekids boss linked with Patrick Mason—a young creative at the forefront of Berlin’s art, fashion, dance music and LGBT scene—back in 2018 after they struck up a friendship in Panorama Bar. The hard-hitting techno opener ‘Talking 2 B Mad’ is built on rock solid drums that never let up. Industrial synth fizzes twisted vocal loops and icy hi hats add detail to the most physical groove, which cannot fail to get you moving. Soma label heads Slam curate a specially designed package of tracks to finalise their Archive Edit project that sees them delve deep into Techno’s past to bring some of the genre’s best tracks into the modern age. The Archive Edit project started as a way for Slam to showcase and share the many different edits that had made their way into their DJ sets over the last few years. The pairing of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle have both raided their extensive collections, picking out tracks that have defined countless sets over their career. Tracks from luminaries such as Nitzer Ebb, Thomas P Heckmann (as Silent Breed), Damon Wild & Terrence Fixmer have been re-edited alongside some of Slam’s own unreleased material, showcasing the duo’s current sound; one that constantly naturally evolves, matures and demonstrates why the duo have been at the forefront of the global scene since its inception.

“We resurrect nine cuts from our archive collective collections for your listening and spinning pleasure. Some are original material, some are live re-edits, some are well-known, others are not! They all have one thing in common, they all attempt to unashamedly destroy dancefloors, and thus featured heavily, (usually toward the end of our DJ sets) in the last year or so well known”. Now we share them with you!"

Slam open the album with an absolute monster track in the form of their rework of the legendary Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Join In The Chant’. The anthemic EBM/post-punk infused original is given a thrashing overhaul from the duo marking one of the standout tracks of this collection.  A special live rework of fan favourite ‘Scorpion’ drops before the previously unreleased ‘Memoriam’ delivers on a more emotive tip. Firing back into the edits is Thomas P Heckmann’s seminal ‘Sync In’, under his Silent Breed Moniker which is a fast-paced, Neo-Trance affair Slam then drop the manic ‘1001’ which takes the BPM stratospheric. DK8’s, Murder Was The Bass is up next and given a 2019 update as the duo's edit snatches up all the most perfect elements of the track leading nicely into a rework of French EBM legend Terence Fixmer’s ‘Body Pressure’ - driving through with its twisted beats and vocals. Another special live edit of the first Archive Edit release, Damon Wild’s Rotary makes an appearance as the album closes out with the rave infected, rework of the Hertz classic ‘Recreate’
