Time bends a little when you travel, or at least this selection makes that feeling more vivid.   

‘I made it before I went away for a holiday at my parents. I wanted to make a mix for a road-trip and I think that’s how it turned out. And we were listening to this sort of music a lot in my dads car when driving around that week’. 

Artur Strekalov a.k.a mu tate (@mutate3k), is a UK-based ambience producer, original from Latvia. He’s the mind behind ‘Let me put myself together’, a notable record published this year on @triplexlarge, and also the host of the mix series ‘Inexact’ on @radiosygma.

We are back after a long time. Welcome to the newest season of our series. Hope we can keep experimenting together, wherever you are listening to. A big welcome to the new members of the community. 

To kick off, we present CS + Kreme (@cs-kreme) – Conrad Standish and Sam Karmel – a particular Australian duo who caught our attention during the long days of quarantine with their excellent Snoopy LP, imprinted on Trilogy Tapes (@the-trilogy-tapes). Orange, their latest work, profounds into this addictive hallucinatory feeling, delivering once again a special music experience. 

Regarding the mix find a quiet moment, you'll have to chew it a while to uncover slowly the encrypted narrative that's beyond. A selection made with love, featuring some of recent duo favorites in no particular style.

'For whatever reason I went turbo on the edits for this mix. I was excited by the prompt to do something more experimental and unstructured which led me to edit and re-contextualize some misfits from the last few years. I feel like I have hit a wall with my 15 year dj practice and just want to work on composition now. I have been playing around with making simple loop edits in Virtual DJ and arranging them in ableton'.

To finish up with May at Fake Rolex, we host a sometimes liquid, sometimes deep drumming selection from Elise (@el-se), a DJ that oscillates with prolific talent through genres as UK techno, electro, ghetto house, jungle and between. 

‘I did this podcast a month ago from now when we were still deep into the lockdown here in Paris. Like a lot of people, this period went with a lot of mixed feelings about the future, ups & downs. It was in a bit of a lull moment that I tried to share some kind of “floating acceptance” that I was into on that quarantine day 49’

After 5 years in the Shanghai local scene where she was involved as a DJ, live performer, and occasional promoter, Elise moved to Berlin to focus on her music production, releasing an EP at Man Band Records (2018)(@man-band). 

Now based in Paris, Elise continues to push her sound forward and signed an opening reshape on François X's new imprint Dement3d XXX (@dement3d), with some promising releases in the works as well as a monthly show on Rinse France (@rinse_france).
