Muzyka zawarta na tej płycie inspirowana jest gruzińskimi pieśniami polifonicznymi oraz niezwykłą historią starożytnej Kolchidy, krainy, której ślady świetności mozolnie odkrywają od kilku lat polscy archeolodzy.

Pomysł nagrania materiału zrodził się w 2019 roku, kiedy to zespół Kwartludium zaproszony został przez Instytut Polski w Tbilisi do odbycia wizyty studyjnej w Gruzji. Podczas wielu spotkań, koncertów i prezentacji kultury gruzińskiej muzycy zapoznali się z materiałami etnograficznymi i historią Kolchidy oraz dokonali nagrań terenowych, które posłużyły, jako materiał wyjściowy do stworzenia autorskich kompozycji elektro-akustycznych. Do projektu zaproszony został również Michał Jacaszek, jeden z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych polskich twórców muzyki elektronicznej na świecie.

Tak jak naukowcy, odkrywając kolejne warstwy pokładów archeologicznych, zbliżają się nie tyle do odpowiedzi, a do odkrycia nowych pytań, tak też muzyczna odyseja zespołu Kwartludium i Jacaszka ma uświadomić nam ilość pytań związanych z tradycjami muzycznymi Europy. W Gruzji do dziś zidentyfikowano niektóre starożytne pieśni, które wg. etnomuzykologów sięgają swoimi czasami mitologii i kultury starożytnej Kolchidy. Utwory te są dla nas inspiracją do przypomnienia w nowej formie, bogactwa nieznanej tradycji, która paradoksalnie, o czym wciąż wiemy bardzo mało, tkwi u źródeł europejskiej kultury.

Sound Mechanic Neil Feather has been creating radical and unusual musical instruments since 1970 and is increasingly known as one of the most original musical thinkers of his day. His instruments each embody uniquely clever acoustic and engineering principles, and are visually arresting. The music he plays on the instruments is equally original, embodying new principles and resulting in a nearly alien idiom of music. In this programme he meets musician, composer and Hörspiel producer Felix Kubin.

ZILLA - Whatever It Is

"On this 6-track album, the musical world of Golden Ivy comes full circle as he introduces these seemingly different elements to each other. On one hand, there is the cold precision of programmed rhythms pulsing through the base layers: echoes of the urban industrial cityscape in which it functions. On the other hand, the sliding howls across the strings of the violin reaches much further out into the wilderness. And still - melded together - they manage to convey a feeling of “home”.

Taking inspiration from the fourth world concept of Jon Hassel, Ivar finds a delicate path where influences of folk music from various cultures can be captured and contained within a modern frame of mind. The violin and flute are present throughout the album like a red thread. Perhaps they are the perfect instruments to capture the melancholy, isolation and beauty of being alone with nature, and of being home in oneself.

But there’s also Ivars jovial sense of humour that peers through, for instance on the pirate fantasy of “Long John Silver” or the jittery bounce of “Game Vän”. Oddball touches of lefthanded debauchery pass by here and there, but the focus remains on simplicity and repetition. The compositions are focused and tightly harnessed to the rhythms which carry them. "
