The first time Mente Organica's tunes came to our ears we were just going wow......

Born in Colombia, music flew out of the Andes directly into his blood. Since then his heart and mind is feeded by endless creativity and beauty.

We love how he builds bridges between traditional South American music and modern electronic Music, switching fast, playing with the tempo, his flutes and the Guitar. Real, joyful and deep.

It got really interesting when we involved Ninze & Okaxy, Daniel Imhof and Anton Feine & Colour you Mind into his Music. All of them created very unique Reworks gliding with the shadow of the condor.

& passion. Curator and co-founder of Ethno Kult. Playing instruments and composing music
since his childhood, Da Iguana started merging his diverse music experience (rock, funk, hip
hop, dub, house & techno) into one project 2 years ago, injecting some of his love for travels
and traditional music of the world. Now based in France, you can catch him this summer at
La Nature Festival (BE) and Chateau Perché (FR), between smaller gigs.

Serenades Podcast #66 - Da Iguana

Devenir Maleza was one of those projects that just arrived in our overflowing inboxes one day out of the blue. We opened the link and discovered four finely crafted, beautifully produced and captivating tracks of transformative, percussive music. 

It rare to find music that marries so well recorded percussion, live instrumentation and vocals with deep electronic productions without one dominating on the other. With Devenir Maleza Prisma and Martin Broder, a duo based between Berlin and Buenos Aires, managed to find that sweet spot that we love so much here at Shika Shika: deep, electronic but natural, acoustic and introspective. Or as the duo describes it: “a crackling, soothing, hypnotic lullaby.” 

Devenir Maleza’s was inspired by the concept of “becoming” and of transformation in many aspects. Through their long-distance collaboration the duo’s starting point was to imagine music becoming la maleza or “the undergrowth”, as if it the synths, vocals and instruments were sinking into the humid earth or drawn from the whistling wind or emerging from a rustling forest. 

The duo is joined on the EP by the talented singer and pianist Maria Barone as well as techno-producer / percussionist Merlin Genschel.

It took a while - he had to cross the whole ocean - but now he has finally arrived! And the waiting was worth it. We met @mellowtact from New Zealand last year at the "Friends From Around The World Festival" and asked him to enrich our podcast series with one of his very own mixes. And that's what he did!
