The writing method is defintely a lot more piecemeal - can create something very fast but it's not necessarily polished.

This is vital for me because I have a lot of ideas in my head but transposing to score is so cumbersome.

Trying to get that bass melody dialed in and really starting to establish the full harmonic structure of this section at least.

In short, I'm trying to develop and find motifs I can share between instruments, and I'm trying to find exactly in which bars, and over what chords, said motifs are the most impactful.

It's fucking slow doing this okay? You don't wanna build a house on shit foundations and this build is going to take a while as I know it always does.

Sadly I've lost the GPX for this one so I'll have to re-write it if I want to edit/change anything but honestly I'm very happy with this one right now anyway, so I'll probably leave it.

Spark was something I just came up while doodling on both my Guitar and my DAW, GuitarPro6. This sort of disjointed melody popped out to me in the DAW while experimenting and playing that on the guitar lead to me giving a very harmonic flare. It's easy to imagine sparks of electricity flying about all over the place, and that's where the song got it's name. No deep meaning, just a "oh cool!" moment from me.

Plini style, big embelished intro. Good composition of built major and minor chords on the rhythmn as it comes in. Good progress so far!

DEV - "Solar Flare" Pt I

I came up with this track after wanting to white something huge. Something that just built and built. Inspired by Plini's "Paper Moon" at the time, I wanted to make this great big monolith monstrosity that you couldn't take a breath from. I've loaded so many layers into this, from a bassline that breaks out into funky walks to glowing clean sections, dirty chorded rhythms and massive leads. Stir it in a pot at 180 for 30 minutes then put in the oven, and this pops out. I'm happy with it. Strong structural pedal that keeps building to a massive climax solo at the end. I imagined the sun bursting a massive fire plume when writing this and the idea has stuck ever since.

Well I was working in C Major but it seemed to want to develop into a more Lydian feel. F7Msus2, C7Msus2, G7Msus2. It gives it that very unresolved, continuing feel that doesn't really resolve till the end of the phrase.

Finally worked in a verse in A-Minor. Happy with the Rhythm, Bass may need work. Lead definitely needs work in this section. Drums might need review but seem okay.

DEV - "Lysergic Dreaming" Pt II

This track as had so much work put into it over the last 3 years. My goal was to write a piece greater than 7 minutes long with lots of different motifs and harmonys. I think I succeeded. I came up the melody first, and then just slowly built everything around it. After a while, I stalled and started to pull other quite-bites of material together, mashed it all up with some intersting transitions and then formed this metal soup.

This actually has nothing to do with razor blades, knives, swords or anything of the sort. It's actually about motorcycle racing and how it makes me feel. There's a very fine margin between a high speed crash and that sweet satisfaction of hitting a perfect corner.

I love this one so far. Powerful start with a serene finish, might clean up the leads a bit more yet and maybe add a refrain to the opening towards the ending.

DEV - "Lysergic Dreaming" Pt III

This song was inspired by one particular acid trip I had. I took 150ug and about halfway through the trip boosted the visuals with some cannabis. The visuals exploded into some of the most vibrant imaginary colors I have ever seen. My entire visual field started to wave about like it was painted on a waving flag. Sparks of the brightest turquoise blues, oranges, reds and greens, even colors that could not normally exist, flew about my peripheral vision. I sat back absolutely floored by the beauty, jaw agape in astonishment. I have since moved on from this exploratory phase of my life and it's not an experience I feel the need to repeat, but damned if it was not one of the most mind blowing experiences I ever had.

Fixed a few of the rendering issues in this track, sounds much cleaner and more polished.

COMPLETE - "Blessing"

A long time ago I experimented with LSD. This was one of many trips I took, this time with some close friends. We played with glow sticks all night, ate lots of fruits and laughed and laughed. I felt so at peace, so happy with how my life was. LSD was one of the best medicines I ever used as it helped me challenge my perceptions of how others saw me and how I saw myself. This night, I felt like people truly understood and accepted who I am. GammaGoblin's "Flower of Light" was definitely one of the best experiences I have had with Lysergic Acid Diethylamide. Now, I've since moved past these days but I can definitely look back fondly on my experiences and knowledge gained.

Something with a very meloncholic melody over the top. Strong Aeolian based driving rhythmn with some Plini style lead inspirations.

Redoing the middle section and re-balancing a bit more.

A bit more punch overall but needs refining - sonic palette feels a little dirty still.
